    • I’m only on episode 3 and that was the least interesting episode so far but overall it has been great. I love the plot and the acting is incredible. As someone that works in an office environment, there’s a lot of really, really good subtleties that crack me up. MJ is even watching it with me and she says “this is so weird” at least a dozen times in every episode

It starts out as a slow burn and then builds intensity as the season progresses. I was reading the reviews on IMDB last night and while there were very good overall, I was surprised how many people bailed on the series after 1-2 episodes. Knuckleheads.

It’s not for those people. I’m glad the dumb ones go away rather than whine for 9 episodes about not getting it.

Agreed. This feels like a smart show and it’s living up to that. By contrast, Ozark was a show that seemed like it wanted to be smart and it became dumb really fast, maybe to please and keep the masses. Lost was another show that started out strong but got caught not knowing where to go after it’s popularity. I hope Severance has an intelligent story arc and it sticks to is regardless of popularity.

It is a slow burn, but never boring though. The way it builds on itself makes you want to find out more. It doesn't feel like filler episodes. Everything feels like it has a purpose.

              • Was up in Canada visiting the son last week so it took me forever to finish the last two episodes. Wow, is all I've got to say.
                Well, I have more:

                Spoiler for thoughts:
You guys are good. Helly's outie caught me completely by surprise. The scene right after the overtime contingency has been activated, where she enters the room where all those pictures of her innie are, is just about as good cinematography that you can get. That scene with her dad in the bathroom was super creepy.

Selvig/Cobel turned out to be a very interesting character. So she is a true Kier believer, but early on she's imploring the Board to realize that reintegration is really happening. I think her obsession with Mark and Miss Casey is to stress the system to see if there's any recognition between the two. She wants to get any potential kinks ironed out. But then she's fired, she loses her faith. Had she not figured out Mark's innie was out, she might have gone on to be ex-Kier. But then Mark forgets he's an innie and her plan to get back into the good graces of Lumon is laid out in front of her.

Was Gemma's faked death Lumon's plan all along? To enslave her as a permanent innie, or was she a threat to Lumon before Mark got severed? Or just a brutal test to see how complete the severance procedure was?

Irving seems to have been reintegrating much more than Petey did, right? I mean, he keeps painting that hallway. And then he finds the list of employees and Burt's address in that locked chest. It's weird that his innie seems like the last one that would poke around that stuff. But maybe his Kier devotion was just a ruse. Or, was all that information given to him by someone else?

Agree that there really is something going on in the world outside Lumon. That has to be pointing to a generalized dystopia, either caused by Lumon,or Lumon is just a by-product of it. Everyone is just off, except maybe for Mark's sister. So I don't know if her general normalness is intentional.

Just a fantastic season. Can't wait for more.

                  • I'm shocked by how few people have apple tv. If this were on HBO Max or Netflix it would be all anyone is talking about.

                          • Finished episode 8 tonight. This show is good. I wish I had more time to watch but I’m slowly making my way there. I also want a waffle party.
