I'd rather my wife wanted to bump uglies with someone than seemingly falling in love with a "passion" junkie. Lust and a moment's carelessness, I can understand. Loving someone else? That's like a stake in my heart.

Me too. Great movie. I watched on an IMAX screen and got some motion sickness from it though.

I took this picture last night after leaving a showing of Toy Story 3 (which was excellent).

I think my wife is going to see it at that theater tonight.

She got roped into it by a neighbor and isn't looking forward to it.

She loves the books and the movies, just not waiting forever and staying up all night. She was mad that there isn't assigned seating there and they have to do the herded cattle thing.

Wow, no wonder they like to kill people. I'd be angry too.

The giddiness...the anticipation... It's like some group psychosis.

It was creepy seeing this middle aged, fat, probably LDS mothers talking as if they were groupies of an 80's rock band back in the day.

Of course, if the roles were reversed and these were fat, married, middle aged LDS men that were being interviewed and were slobbering and gawking over some movie with a scantily clad teenage girl, then they'd all be labelled pigs and called creepy.

Well, these women are creepy. And they are pigs.

I thank the stars that my wife couldn't force herself to finish those books. She started one and said it was ridiculous and put it down. She's no prude, but she knows a crappy book when she sees one.

Thank you for indulging this post-local 10 o'clock news rant.
I don't why all you guys get your underarmour in a bunch over women going gaga over this vampire movie. How is it any different from all the "fat, middle-aged, married men" and their half-naked avatars on this board?

Also, I checked imdb and the actor that plays the Edward is 24 in real life so it's not like these women are drooling over Rico Rodriguez: (who is actually quite a hunk.)
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

In this case, I suspect the furor has to do with the fact that some of the women are or could be our respective wives. Given KL's excellent contributions to this thread, I don't think I'm the only guy here who is going to insist those books be banned from the household unless accompanied by a subscription to Playboy, Asian Ass Magazine*, or some other pornography of my choosing.

*I totally made that up - I have no idea if such a thing exists. Promise.

Yes but this guy just barely turned 18

Let's apply the half your age plus seven rule here. For Edward, that means you better be 34 or less. For Jacob, that's 22. So who the hell are these pervy 40-somethings lining up to see the show?
