  • I loved SSX Tricky on the PS2. Now EA has released a current generation console SSX game. IGN gave it a 9.0.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

    • Only a few more days until Mass Effect 3. IGN is doing their review in progress.

A common question eager Mass Effect fans like to ask revolves around how Mass Effect 3 stacks up against Mass Effect 2. I wasn't quite sure how to adequately answer that as I trekked through the first half of the adventure. Mass Effect 2 in many ways represents the sheer potential of gaming, a force to be reckoned with that easily falls into the short list of best games of all-time. Indeed, for some of the experience, Mass Effect 3 actually felt weaker in many ways when compared to Mass Effect 2 just because it set the bar so high. But now, my feelings have markedly changed.

This change only made itself clear 15 or 20 hours into the game, when it becomes overwhelmingly obvious how intricately woven the sum parts of the Mass Effect series are. I found myself continually shaking my head in awe as things came together, not only from Mass Effect 2, but from Mass Effect itself. Even though I'm playing "fresh" on PlayStation 3, my extensive experience with Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 on Xbox 360 allowed me to appreciate all of the odes, both major and minor, being thrown out to characters, events and conversations that had occurred in previous games. How BioWare accomplished all of this successfully borders on mind-boggling.

      • Fun article: The 6 most infamous puzzles in adventure games history

        http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/RyanC...me_History.php

I remember playing a few of those, especially Hitchhiker, Kings Quest and Zork.

A couple of other headscratchers from my old Apple ][ days that resulted in much triumph and exultation when I finally solved them...

        1. Secret Agent Mission One: figuring out the correct pathways to take when you are crawling through all those tunnels/air ducts/whatever they were. I had to make a map on some notebook paper and keep trying different ways to make it through to the other side. Took forever.

        2. The Serpent's Star: there is one part of this adventure RPG that actually requires a perfectly timed jump through an avalanche. Takes forever to figure out how to time the jump based on the position of a falling snowball that bounces across the screen.
        Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

          • Anyone had a chance to play ME3 yet. It is sitting here on my desk mocking me right now.

I saw an ad on tv for this game. It looked to be an ad for some sort of movie about post-apocalyptic Earth. The graphics were amazing.

Has anyone else seen this ad and if so, is it a true representation of what the game looks like?

Yes it is a good representation of how the game looks. However, if you have played ME1 and ME2 don't get the game. Play those 2 first. ME1's graphics are not nearly at the level of the next 2, but it is worth playing at least a quick runthrough for story purposes.

I'm picking it up on my way home from work. Between that and the new Macbook Air that was delivered today, I feel like it's Christmas.

I got to work today with my copy already delivered. It has been a struggle staying at work.

I'd spoil some of the stuff in ME3 for you guys but I'm better than that. I'll just tell you I'm extremely disappointed with how it all turned out. Bioware is going in a direction that is a lot different from it's former greatness, and I think EA unfortunately has had a big part of that.

I don't think your coworkers want you staying at work with that sore throat that started this morning.

                        • Anyone play Assassin's Creed? I've never played the series, but saw a preview for the latest version being released and it is based on the American revolution. Looks cool.

I've been worried that they were going to botch the story. I'm not worried about the gameplay. Have you actually played through it or did you read internet spoilers?

The cracked copy has been out for more than 24 hours.

I will say no more, if you want to enjoy the game, enjoy it.

Evidently according to pcgamer not playing the multiplayer will affect the ending.
