    I thought it was really a sweet movie. I'm a little surprised it got a Best Picture nomination, but I definitely liked it better than Wolf of Wall Street. I think it's one of the only movies to really get rural America somewhat right without having to spoof it, unlike movies like Fargo, etc.

            Did you bust this out on Netflix Instant? I saw it was added. In fact, I added it to my queue. I watched it once in probably junior high school and intend to watch it again soon. Really don't remember anything about it.

                I recorded it off IFC a few months back and just got around to it. I had to watch it with closed captioning, as I couldn't understand half of what was being said (I can handle the thick English accents, but the accents combined with the made-up vocab was a bit too much).

                    You really should read the book before you watch the movie.

                    it is one of my favorite movies. The droog speak makes more sense if you have read the book.

                    now you can go back and fully appreciate posts that have referenced ultraviolence, in out in out, mlk, and other ACO allusions.

                        Anyone seen The Saratova Approach? It just opened in a theater in Houston and I'm thinking about ditching work on Friday to see it as I doubt it stays around long.

                                I saw the latest Jack Ryan movie. On behalf of Robert Ludlum, I've long been offended that they take his characters and completely rewrite his books and willynilly change the ending. This latest incarnation just uses the character Jack Ryan and gives him a whole new wife and life, retaining maybe one thing: his PhD from the London School of Economics. So its okay that they bastardize everything-- we're only talking about a general character.

                                Anyways, I loved this movie. Straight thriller with a pretense of complexity (the terrorists target the financial markets). I am a huge sucker for any movie that films in Red Square (Get Smart, The Saint) and at least 2/3rds of this movie was filmed on the cobblestones next to the Kremlin. It still not my absolute favorite spy movie (That will remain Spy Game), but its a nice way to spend an afternoon.

                                    I enjoyed the movie, but for Kevin Costner.

                                        what really bugged me was Kara Knightley's crooked british teeth. I've never noticed it before, but she has awful front teeth. She's such a pretty girl-- I can't believe she hasn't fixed them yet.

                                        Chris Pine has some of the bluest eyes.

                                                    Many of the Moscow scenes in Jack Ryan were filmed in London and Liverpool as well as in studios in the UK; "limited filming took place in Moscow" per director Kenneth Branagh. When Kevin Costner appeared on Jimmy Kimmel recently, he mentioned that he didn't even visit Russia for this film and that much of the Moscow shooting was done in the studio. Haven't seen the film yet and am no expert on Red Square/Moscow. But it would appear that the filmmakers did an excellent job of recreating Red Square and Moscow.

                                                    Will have to check out Spy Game. My favorite spy movie is: Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

                                                        I watched the movie last night. Really enjoyed it.
