What do you mean? Garth talked tough on the board but it was always clear Mrs. Garth was calling the shots.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

You are a man who understands. I'm sure your wife (if you are married) calls the shots at your house too.

I guess I just bought into that tough talk. Especially the part about him never seeing a movie, under any circumstances, that he didn't want to see. But I have to admit, the thought of IPU sitting in a Snow White movie makes me
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

        • Ebert gave that movie a great review. Not sure I'm comfortable enough in my masculinity to rock a Snow White movie solo without the pretense that I'm being dragged to it by a female, but i might anyway.

Go get one of those girls from Sharky's to go with you, or the Tilted Kilt.

Wow. Best movie I've seen in... years. My man-crush on Mark Duplass gains momentum as well as my regular crush on Aubrey Plaza. Also, Jake Johnson (of New Girl fame) is genuinely hilarious in this. Great humor, no pratfalls or cheap laughs.

Beautifully scripted, acted, soundtracked, scored, PERFECT tone, pacing, everything. Maybe I liked it so much b/c it was such a pleasant surprise, but this movie is like when a 3 course meal comes together in exactly the right portions and flavor. I hope I haven't elevated expectations too much, and I'll not delve into any script details in case you want to come into this movie with a fresh palate. It's rated R for one profane use of the F word referencing copulation in the first 3 minutes of the movie. That's it. It's an amazingly clean movie- much cleaner than Moonrise Kingdom, which was a pretty wholesome PG-13 (outside the Blue Lagoon-lite moment). Tonight I was glad I was alive to see this movie, because it made me really happy. The vibe of this movie just hit a harmonic with my spirit's frequency or something . Worth a watch.

There was a line around the building at the theatre and I assumed it was for this movie since this is its first night here, but apparently it's date night and everybody is wanting to see Moonrise Kingdom. It pains me that folks miss out on stuff like this in favor of Adam Sandler's latest bowel movement. (Not that I'm hating on A.S., but... geez)

              • We debated Safety Not Guaranteed and Your Sister's Sister tonight. Both opened tonight, both star Duplass, and both are Seattle joints. Went with Sister and enjoyed it. Safety is up next.

Weird deal. Not as good as I thought it would be. Was looking for a deeper meaning to the vault and everything in it.

                  Lots of questions left untold.
Agree to an extent. Also wonder how a race of humans who have brought DNA to the earth a billion years in the past would not have advanced themselves in the area of merging their bodies with machines.

The one thing I have noticed about the Alien movies as well is the one-dimensional characters with the exception of one or two main characters. However, I do like the movies and I did find this one entertaining enough that when it is out on DVD I will probably see it again.

                  • Has anyone seen rock of ages? It looks absolutely awful. CZJ was on Tonight and they showed some of her number, "Hit me with your best shot." it was abysmal. I didn't like Glee so maybe that is why I think this looks so ridiculous.

                      Rock of Ages predated Glee.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

                        Why is that relevant?

Eh....I don't know. Just seemed an odd conclusion--making judgments about the more original based on a derivative. Maybe you just meant the genre.

I have never seen the rock of ages play, but I have seen glee. I'm not a fan of the genre, as you suggest. Although I did enjoy Mamma Mia (the play...the movie was awful).

                            • Just watched The Debt and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

                              Meh on The Debt.

Yes on Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Aren't there other books involving Gary Oldman's character? They should have dropped some of the f bombs and made the movie PG-13 and promoted it some more. They could have made a franchise out of it maybe.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

                                My Rock of Ages Review:

Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, and Paul Giamatti steal the show, music is great, Tom Cruise didn't suck (for once), and Julianne Hough needs to embrace the fullness of the everlasting gospel just a bit more.
