OK, I watched this over the weekend. Hilarious. I love how they went over to Italy and found the director and he was thrilled to hear that the movie had become a cult favorite. And he starts offering his opinion on the deep meaning and symbolism in the movie and explains how he is not surprised that the public ignored the critics and came to appreciate its greatness. Then he comes to the US and seems shocked to learn that it is popular solely due to just how awful it is. I also enjoyed where they found the guy who played the creepy old man and he said, "Yeah, I remember there was this little Mormon kid who played the main character. I don't know why, but I really hated that kid. Man, I just could not stand him. So when I was trying to scare him, it was for real." And of course, he doesn't realize that the guy interviewing him is the same kid, 20 years older.Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostIf you want to stick with your troll theme, I recommend Best Worst Movie, also streaming on Netflix. This movie is a documentary about the worst movie ever made, Troll 2. Apparently filmed in Utah by an Italian production company. Lots of local (utahan) actors and crew. More than slightly amusing.
After watching the doc, I discovered that Troll 2 is available on Netflix streaming. I watched the first 45 minutes today and I can see what the fuss is about. Words cannot describe just how horrible this movie is. I mean you couldn't devise a movie this awful if you assembled the top 100 people in Hollywood and gave it your best shot. I enjoy watching the occasional horrifically bad movie, so this sounds like worthy evening's entertainment. Would you or KL recommend I watch Troll 2 first (or at least a portion of it) before watching the documentary?Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostOK, I watched this over the weekend. Hmmm, I'm not sure if a certain viewing order would maximize cringeworthy awfulness. I'd probably go documentary first, then as much of the movie as you can stomach.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostI enjoy watching the occasional horrifically bad movie, so this sounds like worthy evening's entertainment. Contagion, it was alright. I thought the acting was pretty good, but it didn't exactly stand out amongst those types of movies in its genre.Last edited by DrumNFeather; 02-08-2012, 07:37 AM."They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.
Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Maybe my expectations for Chronicle were too high because I saw it had 85% on Rotten Tomatoes but to me it seemed like they could have done so much more with the idea. But I can see how teens/early 20s would like it I guess or maybe somebody who was expecting something crappier.Originally posted by Green Lantern View PostI saw the new flick Chronicle a couple nights ago. If you haven't seen the trailers, it's a basically a "found footage" movie like Paranormal Activity or Cloverfield, except it's about some kids who gain superhuman powers. I didn't know a lot about it going in, but I was pleasantly surprised. The movie is genuinely suspenseful and well-paced and the principal actors (who were all unknown to me) were very convincing. Fun flick, especially if you're a fan of "what if superpowers existed in the real world" comic stories like me.

Surfah and I watched this with our daughter and niece, when our niece brought it over Christmas. We were pretty impressed as well. Good flick/documentary/whatever it is it was really entertaining and totally not a waste of our time. We like the Beibs now too.Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostNever Say Never
Gotta tell ya, I have tons of respect for that kid after watching that. I now hold him in the same regard as JT. I have Bieber fever.

LOL@Surfah. Gidget hacks his account and outs him as a Justin Beiber fan.Originally posted by Surfah View PostSurfah and I watched this with our daughter and niece, when our niece brought it over Christmas. Last summer was the summer of Justin with three daughters who are totally in love with the kid. I think that movie was on constant loop in our place. Even the youngest (2 yrs old) sings his songs.
The kid has got the greatest gig in the world but I hope he avoids the seemingly inevitable coke/booze phase.

don't worry surfah, this happened to me all the time until i had the Clueless one scramble my password and give me access after a short ban. i recently had to go back and spend something like 4 hours reviewing posts made by a non-spouse family member who enjoys acting like a jerk on message boards under my handle and delete something like 300 posts that weren't mine. I'm not claiming to be a super nice dude, but sheesh, there was some rough stuff there, esp against BYU71.

Also, one time your oldest baby came to me and asked if I'd take her to a Justin Bieber concert, and I said of course. She then said, "yeah, I asked Mom if she'd take us, but she said he never comes to Utah. But I youtubed it and he totally does."what I am is what I am and I does what I does.
