  • I only trust RT and metacritic at their extremes. If I see something that they rate greater than 90, I usually agree. And I stay away from anything below 50, or at least I don't pay to watch it.

I actually 'trend' very well with Eric Snider. But he gave Hustlers a B+
"...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

The story is interesting enough, but there could have been a better analogy made with wall street guys/strippers/stock market crash. No amount of thongs and boobies can make this any better than a B-minus movie. And without them, it would be a C.
Yeah B- or C+. It was pretty boring.

I used to rely on RT, but there was one movie there that the critics loved, but I hated. I now make sure to look at both the TOMATOMETER and AUDIENCE SCORE to make sure there isn't a big discrepancy.

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Not yet, but with the missus forsaking me this morning to spend 2+ weeks with grandkids, my moviegoing is going ramp up and that's at the top of the list...

Me too - Right? PAC should be a professional movie critic. Seriously. They wry telling of a story without killing it, the witty observation, and a feel good score.

                  • Given PAC's avatar, I'm going to expect that he goes above and beyond for his Downton Abbey review.

Yup... and right now, there is a big discrepancy with critics and audience for Ad Astra, so that concerns me

                        • Okay...I had a few hours to burn yesterday before doing stats for a high school football game decided to go and catch a movie.

                          Ad Astra....hmmm....

The movie Interstellar was weird. But it had enough payoff, a good soundtrack, and just enough stuff to be believable-ish. This is not Ad Astra. Ad Astra is weird, slow, has no real plot going for it. Just as it was about to get good...credits.

                          Should have waited for Netflix.

                          • Downton Abby If you liked the last two seasons, you'll love this. In a matter of days, the Crawleys and their crew confront and resolve inheritance issues, assassinations, uppity royal servants, and interspousal conflict (on multiple fronts). It's all teed up for a sequel once the cast runs out of money.

                            • Downton Abbey was fun because you do get attached to the characters and it's great to have them back on screen. otherwise i was mostly underwhelmed by the story and was bored at times. ultimately, however, an enjoyable, feelgood 2+ hours at the theater.

                              • John Wick 3- more of the same. Man that Keanu can move for a guy his age! You wouldn't think a movie about an invincible guy shooting dead every single bad guy that attacks him in sundry ways would be more entertaining than a video game, but there I was grinning from ear to ear...
