We took the kids to Big Hero 6.

We loved it. The kids loved it. I'd recommend it.

I loved Big Hero 6. By far my favorite Pixar movie-- it's a Disney/Marvel/Pixar amalgamation and it kicks serious ass. Gorgeous, expansive animation, clever writing, and just wall to wall eye candy. Plot devices a bit tired since there truly is nothing new under the sun, but another welcome escape.

As we frequently do nowadays when eating dinner at home together, tonight the missus and I watched the previous night's Tonight Show (have to support the kid). Last night's show featured the Farrelly Brothers who were plugging Dumb and Dumber 2 that's coming out Friday. The clip they showed was pretty funny, but I was surprised to learn my wife never saw the original, and even more surprised to hear her say she wanted to watch it, tonight. So we did.

My night of surprises continued as she quite enjoyed the movie, although it was disappointing for her to discover that many lines I've uttered over the years, and the spastic dance I sometimes do when I put on a new suit or tux, were lifted from the movie. Anyway, for such a stupid movie, we actually had an enjoyable evening. I won't report on any other surprises that may be in store for me this evening.

Interstellar--I was hooked until the end. Last 20 minutes were painful for me.

Nightcrawler-- gyllenhal is an incredible actor. His character was creepy and I mostly hated him, in large part because Jake nailed it. I respectfully disagree with PAC regarding Renee Russo. It was a decent show that was fairly predictable. I don't regret seeing it.

Interstellar. Really enjoyed it. Had a 2001 Space Odyssey vibe, one of my fav's.

I liked it a lot too. Couldn't stop thinking of Contact when I was watching it.

Now let her read up on the Utah locations used in the film.

Question for those who loved Interstellar from beginning to end:

                      Spoiler for Question about ending:
Didn't the black hole scene bother you a little? Peering in from the back of the bookshelf, the dialogue with the robot in a blackhole? It just seemed like a ridiculous climax to an otherwise awesome movie. Maybe I'm missing the scientific novely of it (i.e. in a black hole time travel is possible) or something, but it just bothered the crap out of me.

Geez, I wish I'd known that two years ago before our daughter's marriage and reception at Le Caille. I would have gone with an orange tux and top hat.

Unfortunately, though not very surprisingly, Dumb and Dumber To is apparently a bomb, pulling in a 28% on Rotten Tomatoes.

My kid went last night and said it deserved a 0% rating.

I saw it Wednesday night. It was disappointing. I haven't read the book but my wife said they shouldn't have split it into 2 movies.

A guy at work offered spots to a pre-screening at LA Live to anyone who wanted them. I passed. Sounds like I didn't miss anything. I haven't seen any of those movies, though.
