And while we're on Spielberg, I agree that Minority Report is top tier. (You're wrong about the pinnacle though. It was definitely Raiders and E.T.) What do you think about the interpretation that...

...everything that takes place after Cruise is taken into custody actually only takes place in his own mind? Remember, we're told that the perps will just live out their greatest fantasies once they're locked away, and it's only after he's taken that every single element, no matter how improbable, seems to fall into place. He even manages to reunite with his wife. I think it's an interesting read, although it makes the movie a lot darker.

Ditto on the others about E.T. It was good when I saw it as a kid, but if I hear that musical theme one more time...

About your spoiler, I had heard that before. I think it's definitely an interesting possibility. But yeah, I choose to watch it as it's most easily viewed.

El Bulli: Cooking in Progress

Not as interesting as I hoped it would be. Half the doc basically just follows Ferran and his crew through the six month offseason where they start conceiving dishes for the next year. Then other half shows the six month period where the restaurant opens and they're trying to put all their offseason work into order.

Unlike Jiro, which examined his life, his relationships with his sons, his quest for perfection (he he), etc., this didn't really have much of a theme or much to say at all. You just kind of watch them as they go through their preparations.

I watched Duel, starring Dennis Weaver. Duel was a 1971 Speilberg movie, featuring a Plymouth Valiant against a 1955 Peterbuilt Tanker Truck.

It was rated a 4 star movie, but I'd only give it 2 and a half.

I watched Duel because I kept thinking it would get better. It didn't. There are very few movies that I have watched all the way through and then come out the other end so disappointed that I kept watching and the time I wasted on them. But this is one.

I liked it. I didn't anticipate it to end the way it did, but it was pretty good.

Side Effects- First hour I thought it was going to be about depression and the use of anti-depressants. In fact that is exactly what it was about. They start it down this path about the side effects of anti-depressants and how serious depression can be. Very somber for the first half of the movie.

Then you have a huge twist and the movie turns on its head. Something that I did not see coming at all.

It is a bit slow at times but overall a pretty good movie. Actually reminded me a little of the movie Wild Things but classed up a bit.

The lesbian scene is a bit classier in Side Effects, I like Katherine Zeta Jones and Rooney Mara getting it on much better than Denise Richards and Neve Campbell.
