There was a great line from last week's episode. Saul was balking at the idea of working with Mike. This is what Walt said in reply (going from memory):

Sure he threatened you. He threatened Jesse. He threatened me. Hell, he probably threatened somebody before breakfast this morning. That's what he does, Saul. Grow a pair.

      Spoiler alert.

What if we catch up to the Denny's at 52 around episode 10 or 12 after much blood shed and Walt is running from Mike and the last 5 or 6 episodes is about Mike hunting Walt down? That could be what happens. Like with the plane crash jump ahead, the writers dont have a history of the jump ahead scene being the end of the season but rather more in the middle of the last 1/3 of episodes.

Can anyone point me to a link to watch tonight's episode illegally? I've been watching on justintv, but my link got shut down with 10 minutes to go last week. I found it elsewhere, with a cruddy picture but I can't even find that link anymore.

That "bide my time" line and Scanton's brilliantly acted reaction was the cruellest coldest thing I think I've ever seen on television.

Must be a good episode coming up, as that was a low budget one. Lot's of inside shots and long dialog.

I liked the episode. I loved the scene where Skylar walked into the pool. You could see her getting ready to do it for a while. Nice scene, very Hitchcockesque. That hit you over the head with it in the end. They should have just had her drifting off into the water in the background and Walt and the couple continued with their conversation.

The Skyler stuff is just driving me crazy. Way too dramatic, and way too big a contrast from where she was at the end of season 2 when everyone was predicting she was headed for Brianna Barksdale status. I'm just not buying the arc they have her on right now.

Which leads me to another thing. Walt's actions toward her have less impact on me than they probably should simply because I just can't stand her. I know they're using her as a device to facilitate Walt's fall from grace. They want us to look at the way he's treating her and detest him even more and turn against him. The problem is that no matter what he does, I'll always hate her more, because such has a much longer history (+4 seasons) of basically being an insufferable *****.

The show would be much better served by pursuing this path was Jesse. How furious was I when he was blatantly manipulating Jesse? That's because Jesse is likable, and Skyler is not. In fact, he's consitently been the most likable character on the show, so when Walt crosses him, it means a lot more to me. And right now they have his character doing absolutely nothing, so it seems like more could be done there. Of course I'm positive this thing is headed for a big blow up between Jesse and Walt over the Brock poisoning, so for now we get to wade through the domestic drama. And I've just never cared much for that element of the show because Skyler leaves me so cold.

It's amazing how we can like Jesse so much even though he murdered Gale in cold blood. Walt poisoned the boy, but he stood by and watched Jesse's girlfriend choke on her own vomit while she lay next to him. Both of these things are sure to become tenderbox sticking points once they come to light.

But the Gale thing he was still kind of manipulated into and doing really to protect someone else more than himself.

True, and we feel like it was an "us or him" moment, but sub-consciously, we know he's a murderer, and by on-screen events, Jesse knows it too.

I think The Oatmeal pretty much nailed it.

agree for the most part. I think it would have been more compelling to see Skyler go down the dark side with him, and to illustrate the lack of humanity with other characters, especially Jesse.

I saw "Gremlins" on the program guide the other day and so recorded it for my kids. We watched it together last night (wow was that a low budget looking thing, hadn't seen it since 1984) and guess who plays the Sheriff's deputy?

During his scene I kept thinking, "how do I know this guy?" The voice finally helped me figure it out. Am I crazy, Or does he look better now than he did 28 years ago?
