The first two seasons of Alias are good TV. After that, don't bother. Seriously.

My wife and I (and she's not usually a scifi person) enjoyed the new Battlestar Galactica.

I enjoyed some of the seasons of 24.

If your wife is like mine, The Shield was too much for her. The Wire....she didn't make it past the first scene.

I finished Breaking Bad a couple weeks ago. Fabulous series and well worth the time to watch. The last episode was pretty good, but for reason it felt a bit hokey, but that doesn't detract from the awesomeness of the whole 5 season series. I don't watch much TV, but I'd put Breaking Bad in second place behind Band of Brothers.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. I just finished Friday Night Lights. I liked seasons 1-3, but didn't particularly care for 4-5. Lot's of characters moving on (which is necessary for a series about high school, I suppose). It's not great, but a solid middle ground for husband-wife netflixing.

Is it fair to compare a mini-series with a regular series? I would agree that Band of Brothers was better, but I've never viewed the two as equals because they told their stories differently.

As for BSG watch the first season and the last season. The others wander aimlessly you can easily skip a lot of the other seasons' episodes and not miss anything.

I loved 4-5. That switch was one of the best things the show could have done IMO.

ha! I was looking for the air matress the other night and came across my DVD set for Band of Brothers. I loved that series. It was such a long time ago that it would be like new for me all over again. It was moved to the built-ins.

I hear that a lot. My favorite character was Riggins, and he was basically absent from 5. I admit there was one story line that was a bit annoying pre-move to East Dillon (don't want to spoil it for FN). I felt like seasons 4-5 just repackaged themes from seasons 1-3. Maybe I'm asking too much of a series targeted for teenagers. Overall, I'm glad I watched it.

                      Pacific was not as good.

Recently I read the book Band of Brothers and then re-watched the series. Enjoyed it even more. The book is carefully crafted from interviews with the soldiers and the series is 100% faithful to the book.

The Pacific didn't follow one group of men, so it lacked the emotional connection that BoB had with me.

Agreed on Pacific and the value of reading the book. I did the same thing two years ago, and my second time through the miniseries was even better.

I think the problem with the Pacific is that it took material from a few different biographies/histories and used them as the basis for the screenplay; whereas BOB had the advantage of Ambrose research and writing that already created one cohesive story. In addition, the atrocoties of the Pacific theater make what happened in Europe look like child's play (not intended to discount in any way what the troops in Europe endured).

Just got done watching this on the DVD discs. Awesome ending. I have nothing to add to what has been said, other than watching the alternate ending in the special features of the DVD is a real treat. If you haven't already you should do so.

I caught seasons 1-5 (first 8) on Netflix. Anyone know when the next set are coming to Netflix or how to watch them online without paying an arm and a leg for them?
