I have been playing with my new DSLR and quickly realized I dont know what the heck I am doing. I got the Canon D60 w/18-135mm kit lens and the 50mm F1.4 lens that Robin suggested in one of the camera threads. Anyways, I have alot to learn.
Here are a few that I thought came out ok.
Just a random bobble head sitting on my mom's counter in her kitchen.

My mom's dog Lucy and her face only a mother could love...

and a Bird of Paradise in my backyard...

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I know this could go in the political area, but just from the conceptual standpoint, this is laughable to me. A friend is using this as his FB cover photo now, out of his own political leanings not for the unintentional comedy.
I have nothing else to say at this time.

I really like that artist - Andy Thomas. He has a similar one with former Republican presidents. And others in different settings. I've seen some large reproductions of these paintings - like four feet across - that are very impressive.Originally posted by Parrot Head View PostI know this could go in the political area, but just from the conceptual standpoint, this is laughable to me. My wife and I bought four postcards with that painting and three others just to have copies. We didn't want to invest serious money in larger versions (there is still a bit of Utahn in me).

I like how he puts his own artwork on the wall in his artwork. And Washington is in both the democrat and republican paintings.Originally posted by Scott R Nelson View PostI really like that artist - Andy Thomas. Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.
