Friday night: feed the kids, play games, let the kids have a slumber party downstairs; Wifey and I go upstairs, climb in bed, watch a romantic comedy, have an exquisitely passionate... amount of time together ... and fall asleep in each others arms.

Saturday morning: get up, go downstairs to start making breakfast. Oldest child walks in kitchen, and says: "Your bed is VERY loud. We couldn't go to sleep, and your door was locked all night. Why was Mom praying...?"

Now Wifey is always worried that the kids are awake, that they will hear, that they are merely under the same roof, and I fear happy time may be severely cut back.

Hmm. Maybe it is time for a new bed.

I guess I don't know what you mean by the term "hack".

I fully admit to being a crappy writer, but I didn't steal the story, phrasing, or the pacing from anywhere. They fell from my twisted little brain to my cracker crumb-covered keyboard (my younger kids apparently play Webkins in here too...)

Those events did in fact happen recently. It even sparked the "where do babies come from?" conversation with my older son.

With 14k+ posts I will never be able to refrain from stepping on your toes, bananaman. That and I don't intend to memorize everything everybody has written over the last several years.

Your shotgun approach has already written every story that can be told, just as The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Robert Johnson, and Neil Diamond wrote nearly every song that can be written.

p.s. I ran across your blogs a few days ago while I was researching some fishing spots in the South. Your autobiographical stories were uplifting, and I really like the engagin pacing of your fictional stories. Bravo!

Gotta love the Fighting Sioux - they also gave the NCAA the finger over their nickname.

Unfortunately, the North Dakota board of education forced them to change the name. It's supposed to out by August 15.

I love that the dude donated $100M on the condition that the nickname never be changed.

And Michigan loses in OT to UMD for the championship. They got absolutely screwed by the refs in the first period on a goal that went in but a ref blew it dead when he lost sight of the puck (and only after the puck was in the net!).

Nevertheless, Michigan was mostly outplayed on the night, so it's not too bad. Would have been fun to get that 10th championship though.

Just ordered an xbox 360 with kinect. I hope this purchase doesn't turn into a huge regret. So far, games ordered: Kinectimals, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Kinect Sports, MLB 2k11, and Madden NFL 11.
