But I made sure to tell him I don't drink coffee so he'd know I'm a Mormon and have standards.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Postby "raised the bar," I assume you mean after you had initially set it seconds earlier??sigpic

Well if there is one thing Jesus taught us, it's that we should not mingle with nor serve sinners.Originally posted by YOhio View PostIt's amazing how many Christian bakers pop up out of the woodwork during a culture war."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Maybe the Lord's method of obedience/reward exemplifies how important our growth is to our eternal happiness. He loves, and wants us to succeed so much, that he's doing all he can to wrangle this herd of cats called humanity. Even a little coercion now and them is nothing more than "tough love" and a kick in the butt to move us in the right direction. I'm surprised, but not shocked, at the level of unappreciation so many of us show to the Savior when we throw his gift back at him, muttering something like.... "its too hard."Originally posted by imanihonjin View PostNope. He taught us that we should be coerced into making the right decision.

So in the grand council where these matters were discussed, how did Jesus rank the importance of loving others unconditionally versus vague political ideologies?Originally posted by imanihonjin View PostNope. Vague political ideologies? I don't know what coercion has to do with unconditionally loving others or are you suggesting that Christ would be for the proposition of forcing people to unconditionally love others?Originally posted by Northwestcoug View PostSo in the grand council where these matters were discussed, how did Jesus rank the importance of loving others unconditionally versus vague political ideologies?

Coercion has nothing to due with unconditional love. However, your response to JL's post suggests that you consider a faulty interpretation of the doctrine of agency to be as important as Christ's admonition of love.Originally posted by imanihonjin View PostVague political ideologies? Really? How is that? It is easy to support non-coercion and unconditional love at the same time. I think everyone should treat others with respect, and kindness, and love. I try my best to do so myself. I don't think others, as long as they aren't doing damage to a physical person or their property, should be coerced to "unconditionally love" others. That isn't even possible.Originally posted by Northwestcoug View PostCoercion has nothing to due with unconditional love. Lest you think that I support people being bigots, I don't. I hope that the bakery that refuses to bake a cake for a gay couple suffers for their poor decisions. I just don't think the government needs to mandate what you and JL apparently believe is unconditional love.
