  • I thought we had a thread for stuff that we should have known for years but somehow never picked up on until now. If we do, I can't find it so this is going here.

If I remember correctly, this is for Funk.

So I just found out that "Ken Tremendous", the nom de plume of one of the three guys behind the late, great firejoemorgan.com, was actually Michael Schur, who I am pretty sure everyone knows, but just in case you don't, writer/Mose Schrute from The Office, and Creator/Co-Creator of Parks and Rec, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and the Good Place.

I've always thought Schur was funny, but knowing he was also behind FJM.com was a nice surprise.

Also, as I was confirming this, I was reminded of the term "Fisking", which brought me back to the wild times of the WWW in the early 2000s, where you couldn't go a day without seeing some blogger giving someone a good fisking. I don't think I have seen the term now in at least a decade.

    • I didn't know any of that stuff, but I don't think you should take great comfort in that.
      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Yeah, I think he's speaking Gaelic.

He mentions Funk, so it’s probably either hockey or Pokémon related.

Now it turns out that the van that hit them, where a man and 13 year old boy were also killed, was being driven by the 13 year old boy. On a 2 lane road with a 75 mph speed limit. And the truck's tire that blew out was a spare. Do pickups ever have donuts for spares? Because that would elevate this to one of the stupidest accidents ever.

No way in hell I'd let my 14-year-old drive at all in any of the following conditions:
                        • At night
                        • On a highway
                        • At high speeds
                        • With a spare tire
That's some seriously bad judgment that led to a 13-year-old driving in a combination of all those conditions.

First thought I had was to wonder if the guy was drunk and this was his solution to the problem. Probably shouldn't assume ill of the dead, but there are one or two red flags here.

That was what I was wondering, too.

                              • Hey, falcons have to eat too.

This was the scene in my back yard yesterday evening. This happens two or three times a year. I still had feathers on the lawn from the last time some poor dove became dinner for a falcon. My lawn mower won't pick those feathers up. I took my shop vacuum out there this morning and got ride of the evidence. I wish they would eat pigeons. Or geese.
