What the hell is wrong with people? If you are going to have religious freedom, you don't pick and choose which religions deserve it. That is the whole point.

Washington • Americans place a higher priority on preserving the religious freedom of Christians than for other faith groups, ranking Muslims as the least deserving of the protections, according to a new survey.
Solid majorities said it was extremely or very important for the U.S. to uphold religious freedom in general. However, the percentages varied dramatically when respondents were asked about specific faith traditions, according to a poll by The Associated Press and the NORC Center for Public Affairs Research."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

We are such a reactionary nation but I'll echo what many others have said: it is paramount that the Muslim American community lead the way in efforts to bridge the gap. It may be the lack of united leadership or fear of reprisal but they need to get out and show the peaceful side of Islam.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostWhat the hell is wrong with people? I watched most of obama's testimony about background checks today on the news. It must have been one of the most patronizing, intellectually dishonest and melodramatic acting jobs I have ever seen. To think that this guy's eight years are going to be followed by at least four from Trump or Clinton is enough to make me want to move to some other place.PLesa excuse the tpyos.

I listened to it on the radio but didn't feel any of those feelings. Perhaps setting the video would have been the tipping point.Originally posted by creekster View PostI watched most of obama's testimony about background checks today on the news. I often thought that, but then my limited skillsets and retirement savings eliminate that possibility. There are no job offerings for attorneys wanting highly paid positions in Monaco.Originally posted by creekster View PostI watched most of obama's testimony about background checks today on the news. Remember the video of the interviews of college students who favored limiting free speech and for elimination of the Bill of Rights? Those liberties are not in vogue any longer. This should surprise nobody watching the current political narratives.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostWhat the hell is wrong with people? 90#--I might be showing my age here, but I've never seen that put quite like this.

As I am arguing in the foyer today, I remembered an exchange I had last week with my oldest daughter. She is pretty vocal about her political beliefs on social media, and I'm proud that she isn't afraid to post her true feelings. But I noticed that she argued her point on someone else's post. I'm not sure why that seems verboten these days, but I gently suggested that it's OK to post whatever you want on your wall, but it's sort of picking a fight when you disagree on someone else's wall. We went back and forth a bit about the effectiveness of arguing online. Then she finally said, "Dad, you argue all the time on 'the Forum'. How many people have you persuaded there?"

Touche. I knew I had lost the argument."...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."
