They don't seem to be interested in our vegetation, just our :swear: cars.

Palmolive soap shavings around the perimiter of the flower garden seems to work, at least for the deer in Davis County.

My wife got so mad that they ate all her tulips last year, she would get up in the middle of the night and watch for them. She looked at all kinds of deterents, including motion sensor sprinklers or noise makers, and coyote urine.

I usually just hook up the electric fencer to my car's frame to solve problems such as this but this solution gets bonus points for all the creative engineering and documenting it all with the cameras.

          • I could have sworn we had a joke thread, but I can't find it on my phone. Oh well...

            From my 10-year old son:
If a quiz is quizzical, what is a test?
            A TESTICLE!!!

Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

            • Anyone have any thoughts on the end of Spike Lee's "He Got Game?" For some reason, that movie popped into my head this afternoon and I keep thinking about the ending. What is your interpretation?

Obviously, Jesus picks Big State. Also, it appears that Jake will receive no reduction in sentence (Spike can't resist a jab at the Man, I suppose). Why does Jake have to walk into the Out of Bounds area (and risk being shot) in order to throw the basketball? What does the basketball exchange signify for Jake? For Jesus? It appears that they have repaired their relationship somewhat, as evidence by Jesus corresponding with Jake via mail, not to mention Jesus picking Big State. Is the basketball exchange symbolic of the repaired relationship...the thing they have in common?

I never understood why Jesus doesn't help his dad out by threatening to go to the press with his dad's story, showing the press the LOI that Jake gave to him as proof.

Which vegetarian faith will you subscribe to?

There are a number of types of vegetarianism, which exclude or include various foods.

Ovo vegetarianism includes eggs but not dairy products.

Lacto vegetarianism includes dairy products but not eggs.

Ovo-lacto vegetarianism (or lacto-ovo vegetarianism) includes animal/dairy products such as eggs, milk, and honey.

Veganism excludes all animal flesh and animal products, including milk, honey, and eggs, and may also exclude any products tested on animals, or any clothing from animals.[23]

Raw veganism includes only fresh and uncooked fruit, nuts, seeds, and vegetables. Vegetables can only be cooked up to a certain temperature.[24]

Fruitarianism permits only fruit, nuts, seeds, and other plant matter that can be gathered without harming the plant.[25]

Buddhist vegetarianism (also known as su vegetarianism) excludes all animal products as well as vegetables in the allium family (which have the characteristic aroma of onion and garlic): onion, garlic, scallions, leeks, or shallots.

Jain vegetarianism includes dairy but excludes eggs and honey, as well as root vegetables.

Macrobiotic diets consist mostly of whole grains and beans.

Simple and lazy. I just don't eat meat. Eggs, dairy, milk, etc are okay. The reasons have to do with the fact that I binge on meat and make myself sick and don't eat enough fruits and veggies. No morality about it. Day 1 is in the books, actually - today is day 2.

And here I was going to invite you over for some pulled pork and smoked brisket

We have two families in our ward that are vegans. Well, the mom is a vegan so she pushes it to everyone in the house. Both families have one YM and it's funny to see them "pig out" on meat and other food at scout camps/activities.

We've scaled back over time on our meat intake and try to balance between beef/pork/chicken/fish. I think we've done a pretty good job educating our kids about balanced diet without going overboard.

Yeah, this is best, but I'm incapable of balance right now. So I'm taking a step away so I don't become a meataholic.

I had a few YM that were from vegan families and it was the same thing. In fact, they would eat nothing but bacon on the camp outs if I would let them. They never missed a campout.
