It's a really good sign when a judge starts quoting from your brief almost word for word.
    Not that, sickos.

September is way too early for an office to put up the Christmas trees and decorations up in the lobby.

Our stake and the neighboring stake is putting on Handel's "Messiah" around Christmas this year. I am in the orchestra, and have been e-mailing people to inform them of practices, etc. One of the flute players is from the other stake. Let's call her "Mary". Her husband's name is, let's say, "Tony" (at least I hope it is her husband). The e-mail address that this nice Mormon couple have chosen for themselves is:

        MaryTony69@yahoo.com

I'm not sure exactly why they chose this. Maybe they live at 69 Elm Street. Maybe they are both 41 years old. Maybe they are big Bryan Adams fans.

It could well be that I am just more depraved than your average person, but I think I would have chosen a different address.

Is anyone else getting at least two emails a week from the BYU Alumni people?

I got a case of beat-to-hell honeycrisp apples on Friday, for free. I turned 35 lbs of apples into almost 3 gallons of cider, and then I made 7 pints of the best apple jelly you could ever imagine out of some of the cider. I halved the sugar in the recipe because they were so sweet that it wasn't needed. I could've done it without sugar if I'd had the right pectin.

When I wear glasses while walking around I have this weird sensation that I'm about two feet shorter. Anyone else experience anything like that?

Over a lifetime of peeing, men learn to automatically pee straight, even if the pee doesn't come out straight. I realized this this afternoon when I looked down and noticed that I wasn't really aiming at the center of the toilet, but that is exactly what I was hitting. The brain knows that hitting the target means aiming a little to the left or right, and this becomes a deeply rooted part of what it means to 'hit the target.' I'll bet there is a fairly strong correlation between how a man aims his pee and whether or not he tends to hook or slice in golf.

The other night my mom treated us to Olive Garden. The entire time I was enjoying my rather tasty Pork Milanese with tortellini, I kept thinking how offended pellegrino and IPU would've been if they only knew.

I realize that your offense was unintentional, so I just feel badly that you had to eat there.

Having caught the Halloween bug, I asked Faith whether or not, if she were to tragically die before me, I could have her skeleton. She said 'Hell no!' So now we have that between us.

The Texas Supreme Court quotes Mr. Spock in a recent ruling:

Appropriately weighty principles guide our course. First, we recognize that police power draws from the credo that "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." Second, while this maxim rings utilitarian and Dickensian (not to mention Vulcan), it is cabined by something contrarian and Texan: distrust of intrusive government and a belief that police power is justified only by urgency, not expediency.
And even cites the source in the ruling:

See STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN (Paramount Pictures 1982). The film references several works of classic literature, none more prominently than A Tale of Two Cities. Spock gives Admiral Kirk an antique copy as a birthday present, and the film itself is bookended with the book's opening and closing passages. Most memorable, of course, is Spock's famous line from his moment of sacrifice: "Don't grieve, Admiral. It is logical. The needs of the many outweigh . . ." to which Kirk replies, "the needs of the few."
This is very logical of Texas.

"I honestly believe saying someone is a smart lawyer is damning with faint praise. The smartest people become engineers and scientists." -SU.
"Yet I still see wisdom in that which Uncle Ted posts." -creek.
