I've just seen the news that Dave Mirra (BMX, X-Games god) died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. This is hitting me kind of hard and not because I was a wannabe BMXer, but I started following him a year or so ago on Instagram in his quest to make it to the Kona Ironman. He's the only semi-celebrity I follow and he seemed very down to earth and so devoted to his two young daughters. That last one is the part that hits me hard, but I've definitely learned more and more that you don't know what's weighing on someone. And I can't help but wonder if CTE played a part in it, too.
