Jack Baker penalized BYU several times for being too loud. He could not here.

Pretty accurate in terms of political philosophy. In terms of influence, I'd describe her as the female William F. Buckley. Hugely influential and deserves equal credit (blame?) with WFB for Goldwater and eventually Reagan. Almost singlehandedly defeated the ERA back in the 70's. Like Buchanan, she's more of an "Old Right" conservative who though anti-communist were a little more non-interventionist and wary of globalism. Lost their pull after the cold war ended. She was an impressive lady. RIP.

            • Funny quote from an article. Lee Trevino said, "I used to hear the cheers go up from the crowd around Palmer, and I never knew whether he made a birdie or just hitched up his pants."

              Mr. Palmer,

              Thank you, and Godspeed.

              • My Arnold Palmer story. I was 17 and had just tore up my knee. Arnold and Jack was playing a round at the SLCC with the club pro there and the current Utah Am champion. I was in a cast from my hip to my ankle but we still went down to watch. During the round Arnold sees me following them on crutches and takes the time to stop and ask me how I'm doing. Made me feel great that he would care enough to stop and ask.

Growing up when I would shoot a basketball I was Jerry West, when I would throw a football I was Bart Starr and when I would hit a golf ball I was Arnold Palmer.

Good story and consistent with all the things being said about him as I watched hours on the Golf Channel last night and this morning.

I started playing golf in High School because of Arnold. Baseball was my love, but watching Arnie on TV got me interested.

He is the King of golf and yet many players were better. Just shows the man he was. He is one of those people who you just didn't think about him dieing.

Dead or Alive, Howard Jones, and Depeche Mode get all the credit for my musical taste evolving beyond classic rock and New Age of British Metal.

                        • Poor Pete Burns. If it wasn't cardiac arrest, it was probably going to be death on the operating table.

Add Erasure and Pet Shop Boys to that list and I'm right with you.

Don't get me wrong, I still have a thing for classic rock and Iron Maiden.

I was pissed I forgot about the Pet Shop Boys concert in SLC last week.

I'll and :rockon1: to that also. My heavy metal phase preceded my new wave phase, which then transitioned into my classical rock phase. Now I'm dabbling in folk rock.
