                        People are getting bent out of shape about that, and that's petty and stupid. It might be ignorant, but it's not racist.

                          I think it more goes to how tone deaf he or his handlers are. That was a very transparent move to try to build bridges with his long-since alienated Hispanic/Latino demographic and he couldn't have chucked up a worse airball. I don't think anybody gets offended if you mislabel a kind of food or call, say, Cafe Rio Mexican food. But when it's Trump having said the things he's said and that's his best mea culpa, well... eyeroll/eff you, Trump.
