Have you ever met anyone who was in the armed forces? Lots of hard workers and admirable people but also lots of "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

[QUOTE=il Padrino Ute;1220700]My point is that I lived about half of my childhood on military bases. I'm pretty sure just about anyone can make it through boot camp. [QUOTE=New Mexican Disaster;1220714]Having been through basic training as well as having had some of the types of soldiers described under my command, I am with NMD here. If I were in a hiring position and someone came to me who hadn't finished basic training, that would immediately disqualify them. sjbhOriginally posted by il Padrino Ute View Post

Oh we all read what you wrote. You proffered that athletes have a tough time with structure and authority, are inexplicably "coddled," and as a result probably couldn't make it through boot camp the same as any given random army private.
. We all begged to differ, providing arguments supported by examples and logic-- none of which were rebutted, by the way. Our eyes all work just fine, and thank you for your concern.
