BTW, 103.5 has always been a little squishy in regards to what it plays. Even in the mid 90s they were playing a lot of 80s New Wave (Ah Ha, quarterflash, the pretenders, etc.). The Wasatch Front's real classic rock station, Z-93, was off the air by 1995. Z-93 would play some deep cuts that 103.5 wouldn't (8 min plus Pink Floyd Songs, Black Sabbath, Uriah Heep).

I don’t remember any 80’s music played on 103.5 when I listened to it, probably from 94-96. It was solidly 70’s guitar rock from what I recall. Not saying it didn’t happen, but if it happened more than rarely the paint crew I worked on would have found another station to listen to.

If you're a fan of 103.5 the Arrow, then you've got to be a fan of Jon Carter too. Flipping stations and I ran across him doing the morning show one 100.7. Still playing some classic rock, but like you found with 103.5, there's other music mixed in. It's not quite the same as the old Jon and Dan in the Morning - but Jon Carter is still Jon Carter.

Few years back, we were both getting food at McD's, and I was waiting for my order. I overheard him say to the guy he was with, "I could take him." I was in my uniform, and he was referring to me. I didn't engage with him--maybe that was his way to start up a convo, but I wasn't really interested so I ignored him.

I was heartened to hear Arrow 103.5 is still around and still playing classic rock. And the arrow hitting a target sound is still being played! We basically listened to that the entire 4 days we were in Utah. Very nostalgic.

103.5 The Arrow has a subchannel as well and they play some of the more esoteric stuff from the 70s, 80s and 90s with few, if any commercials.

By the way, 103.5 The Arrow is wholly owned by the Bonneville International, which is wholly owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints - one of the many for-profit and fully-taxed businesses the church owns and operates.

I had a Z-93 bumper sticker on my Chevelle. I got a discount into Livestock 94 by letting them put it on my car. Only time I've ever had a bumper sticker on one of my cars.
