We had significantly fewer trick-or-treaters this year compared to last year. It looks like some folks at work will be getting candy tomorrow.

When did you all stop trick-or-treating? I was probably 11 or 12 when I started going to parties instead. Over half of the kids who came tonight were junior high or high school age.

I know trunk or treat is the thing in the ward/stake, but there are a lot of kids that attend the elementary school that aren't LDS who I thought would be out and about this evening.

Oh well. More candy for me.
Judging from a thread a while ago about shakes at Woody's, we live fairly close to you. I didn't get a single trick or treater tonight.

I left a bowl of smarties and tootsie pops on the porch with probably 150 candies in it.

It was gone when we got back from my sister in law's.

I'm sure some douchey kid put the whole thing in his bag.

We got hammered last night. Went through seven bags of candy. Awesome.

We had a lot of houses not participate this year, and for those that did, many of them just left a bowl of candy out. Shocker, most of those bowls were empty early on in the trick or treating.

We had probably 200 kids come by our house last night. We likely would have had more, but our neighbors are lame as we were the only house out of four on our cul de sac that had lights on. I felt I had to compensate for their lameness by giving out 3 or 4 mini candy bars to each kid.

Plenty of older kids and teenagers, but most of them at least made an effort to dress up.

This is what has happened to us. a decade ago, when all of my kids werer still trick or treating, we would get several hundred kids and maybe more. The last five years, as I dwindled down to only one kid trick or treating, we have had fewer and fewer kids. Now I have no kids still trick or treating and we had no more than 15 kids stop by last night.

Same story in my neighorhood. Used to have a bunch of houses in a row with Halloween decorations on the porch and front yard. Word would travel via schools and we'd get a bunch of kids from other neighborhoods trick or treat our neighborhood in addition to the locals. Kind of like the scene others describe, mini vans parked on streets next to our park from which a car load of kids would exit, parents directing traffic with flashlights, etc. Many years we would run out of candy.

Now, many in my neighborhood turn their lights out. There's probably more teenagers than little kids coming to the door. Have more than half the candy we bought left over. Guess the neighborhood is in the process of aging out of trick or treating. Sad.

First time I've lived in a place with a consistent stream of trick or treaters. I'm already about out of candy.

Awesome halloween for me. My costume involved me in a homemade grim reaper costume - drywall stilts, super long hooded robe, skeleton gloves - standing outside in a graveyard with a remote-controlled fog machine terrifying children. I was over 8 feet tall and silent - I would only gesture. Tons of kids were scared. I had some giant candy bars to give to little kids who were particularly brave. People were taking pictures with me all night, and one little kid (after working up the courage to come by) told me "thanks, monster!" Definitely keeping that costume.

I've got the big hooded robe and fog machine. I'll need to add the drywall stilts. That sounds awesome.

I'm enjoying ToT'ing with the Puffy Check. Not sure how many more years until they ditch MMM and me, but I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts. Once they do ditch me, I'm going to get into the hosting aspect of Halloween. We are gone most of e night out with our kids so we barely get any visitors. Also we live on a hill so I think people don't want to bother. But I'd love to do what nik is doing and spend my evening at the house hosting visitors.

We have a great neighborhood for Halloween. A couple of houses do Haunted Garages (very well so, I might add), many homes have small activities set up for children in their garages, one house always does caramel apples, another does hot chocolate and fire pits, one does cups of homemade chili, another family does hayrides on their trailer, another guy uses his 4 wheeler to tow a train of cars, and the newest Addition this year was a house that does hand dipped corn dogs right as you wait. It was awesome.
                            Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Hosting is a blast, DDD. I have been manning the talking head all night and having a great time.
