I read everyone's posts about this and tried it yesterday. Same as BFM, I solved it in six tries. I found one of the websites with the previous puzzles and played a few dozen of those last night.

I just try to solve the puzzle, so I usually start with four words that use every letter but Q, V, W, X, Y and Z. Then I have two tries to guess the word. I'm 100% for solving but usually take fix or six turns to get there. It sounds like some of you are trying to minimize the number of lines it takes to solve.

I don't see myself spending more than 90 seconds on any one puzzle.

I'm explicitly trying not to follow any pattern to solve things. I try to start with a different new word every time. I figure the less efficient of a system, the more I'm working my brain.

          I like that approach.

I like following up 'TEARS' with 'YOUNG' idea. I'll try that. Remember, there aren't any plural words ending with 'S', so maybe 'STARE' is a better use of your letters.
              That's a good point. Thanks.

Since this is the logic games thread, I am treating like a logic game from the LSAT. I use my first two tester words, which gives me a good idea of the vowels. I draw five spaces, and then mark where the letters that I know are in the word can't go. That usually narrows it down quite a bit. Then I try to think of possible words that will fit what I know to be true, but with the highest likelihood of being right.

Yeah, I've found with multiple options, if I go with the more commonly used word I have better luck. That said, I only went through the first 30 words or so, so I'm not sure if that holds.

Word number 3 was stupid. Not even sure its a word. Still got it, but in 6.

It's actually become a fun family event for us. We have a 'wordle geek' group chat and we post our scores. Even surly baby daughter joined (first day she got it in three ). #2 daughter's boyfriend also contributes. We even geek out on the pictographs (is there a better word?) and ask details about their sequences.

Like I said, bunch of geeks. But it has been fun.

That that is why you'll never be great.

I have been following the approach of using two words with entirely different sets of common letters for the first two guesses and getting down to business on guess #3. My average for 3 guesses is now 61%.

That’s pretty impressive. I’ve only played four times and I’ve gone 5, 3, 5, 4. I change up my first words everyday and I rarely repeat a letter in the first 2-3 words. I’m more concerned about getting it in 6 than getting it in the shortest amount of guesses. I figure I probably wouldn’t do better anyway if I tried harder to get it in fewer guesses.
