One of the 3 I mentioned above is an external, but it's pretty small. One of those giant ones seems like a good idea.

I picked up the Galaxy S4 from T-mobile. There are a few things I prefered with the iPhone. The biggest is the size. I still prefer a little narrower screen - it's a lot easier for me to use one-handed. The phone/voicemail is aldo clunkier. There are a few apps that are not available on Android that I miss - Amazon Instant Video, Real Clear Politics, etc.

A few improvements over my old iPhone 3GS - the screen really is stunning. It was even more obvious today after using it for a couple days, and going back to the iPhone to look up a picture. The processor is a lot snappier and I've doubled the on board memory with the capability to add a lot more.

Typing out this post on the new phone has reminded me that I am accustomed to the iPhone predictive text. Is there anything to help me with that?

Very true. That said, for any of the prepaid plans (straight talk, for example), it's a cheap way to get a top of the line phone. HSPA+ on ATT network is plenty fast, though, yeah, not LTE.

There are a bunch of keyboard apps. I have used must of them. If you're looking for iPhone like predictive text, check out Swiftkey. But give Swype a try for a few days. I liked Swiftkey and other keyboards but I always come back to Swype. It is fast and slick once you get the hang of it.

Did you ever use swiftkey's swype-like feature? Actually worked pretty well.

Speaking of swype, they got rid of my favorite feature: the swype back to delete an entire word. Why would they cut that?

So I just switched the default to Swype. I'll see how it goes.

I had my phone in my pocket and fell asleep on my couch the other night. I must have bent it or something, because the liquid crystal is spotting up everywhere on my screen. It's much more expensive and involved to repair than a screen that is merely cracked. So, I'm stuck buying a phone three months earlier than planned.

I thought about the iPhone 6 for about two minutes and then recalled how much I loathe iOS (I have an iPad mini 2). It's Samsung vs. HTC vs. LG. I hate the looks and dimpled back on the S5. I don't like that you can't remove the back on the HTC. I'm leaning towards the LG.

I have the G3. Love it. My SIL has an HTC. It has a nice profile and nice sound, and I almost got one. Dumb as it might sound, I went with the LG because I really liked the case.

I thought HTC made that. Oh well, it doesn't work on Verizon anyway.

I went with the LG. I couldn't find a compelling reason to get the phone that cost $80 (the Samsung) over the phone I wanted anyway (the LG).

What I can't figure out is why more people didn't buy the LG. It has to simply be familiarity with Samsung. Samsung was the first Android phone that provided a viable alternative to Apple with the S2 and S3, and people have been loyal ever since.

The other interesting thing is Sony has a really nice phone that no one is buying here in the US, but sells well overseas. They apparently have some bastardized version of the international phone in the US, but it's still really nice. It wasn't quite up to the reviews that the LG and Samsung received, but the build quality was nicer than both, especially the Samsung.

I'm shopping for a new phone. Loved my S3 and then it got ran over in the snow about a year ago. I got an LG G2. Absolutely hate the buttons locations. I don't know what's happened, but the last month or so it drains battery like crazy and gets sluggish. I found an app (Battery Doctor?) that I click that cleans it up, but then it went back to the same a few days later, and now it doesn't work.

It seems we're on the verge of getting some interesting new Android phones but haven't had any for quite a while. I think what I'd really like is a small/light phone with good power, but it seems like that's a design no one cares about anymore.
