Contrary to your post, he did nationalize industry, though not as much as the communists. He hated both the communists and the capitalists, it seems. It also seems that he may have moved away from socialism in the later years, but who cares about all that? He was much too busy at war with the world and slaughtering innocents.

Clearly, he's not the "ultimate socialist" but the way he ran things, i.e. increased centralization and nationalization of industry, tended to be more socialist than capitalist, although he apparently also had some respect for the incentives of markets and private property. He was a tyrant and tyranny leads to more government control, not more open markets. Certainly he doesn't fit into any neat economics box. He probably ran the economy like he ran everything else--as a psychopath.
Well, of course it's a bit more complicated than that. But, I wanted to point out that the vikingos' mom isn't completely wrong. And, I never said that he didn't nationalize industry. I said that he nationalized the German people, a euphemism.

You clearly do not know her.

My oldest, when she was four, said, "why is grandma x so nice and grandma y doesn't like me?"

Also, feel free to private message me my name and hers.

Whether she is oblivious or a mean person (As you project to us here on CUF) does not matter to me. She is your mother plain and simple. She gave you life and while you think she may not have been the ideal Mother doesn't matter. We each have our own history and upbringing and we each learn from our parents how we would like to do things a little differently. And at times the dynamics change and issues arise. Such is life..

What I do see from you and your siblings here is that you guys tend to revel in the opportunity to get in arguments, belittle, or "" whenever you disagree with her and her opinion.. What I did see in her resposne (To you Vicking) was a tired mother who is frustrated with her child and his continued efforts to belittle or frustrate her. But still lets you know she still loves you.. That to me doesn't sounds like such a horrible person as you project..

At first I thought this was an interesting thread but more and more I find it sad and disrespectful on so many levels.. You guys mock her for having opinions different from yours? Do you mock her like this in person?? Do you guys sit around the table and jump in at each attempt to call her out on what you precieve as an uneducated response (I have a feeling you do not "get together" often..) on whatever the discussion is? I don't see the rhyme or reason... It seems always to be around trivial things (Politics, current events etc). I don't know if she starts it and you guys quickly jump in or if you start it but to me it does not matter. One can easily be the adult and look past all these differences and let it go.. When you do get together I am sure it is not like this, so why do you feel so inclined to do it here? You guys need to create your own little yahoo group where you can laugh amongst yourself about your mother rather then here... Keep it within the family so to speak..

I tend to personalize things and in this case I thought about how my mother would respond to her children (6 boys) treating her this way behind her back, via email, or in person.. I know she would be hurt deeply by it and I felt shame for being a part of it..

What a bizarre turn of events. You are trying to get these folks to stop ripping on their mother and they are responding by telling you to mind your own business or that if you knew their mother, you would understand why they tear her apart.

why are you avoiding the pocket constitution question? where is my constitution? how come only HottieCoug gets one? someone asked me whether I agreed with the 12th amendment a few days ago and i could only respond, "the constitution has 12 amendments??" It was embarrassing"

It is interesting that in this thread about crazy emails from mom, no evidence of any wrongheaded or rude emails from mom has been presented.

I think this is a manifestation of the "implicit sadness" Viking has referred to previously.

We don't need to defend anything, because in the end this is a private message board that doesn't have the complete truth, and therefore you won't understand the complete dynamic.

Our mother works tirelessly for what she believes in, but doesn't understand how to genuinely care for the human individual. She's enormously talented, but is incapable of seeing a person's emotions or opinions outside of her own person.

Believe me, I would give anything to have a mom who actually cared that I had to end a relationship two nights ago, or who cared about what's happening in my day to day life, or who cared about how I'm feeling about what the previous things do to me emotionally. Additionally, I'd give even more to have her treat me as though I had opinions or thoughts that matter, but she is incapable of respecting anything that differs from her own.

I find it a bit rich that several of you can be offended by a situation that you know NOTHING about.

It becomes very easy to emotionally cut yourself off to someone after they've told you repeatedly that unconditional love does not exist, and we must earn her love. The sad truth is that she "loves" her children in the sense that she is supposed to have maternal claim over them in visible, public moments.

We were not joking when we drew comparisons between her and Lucille Bluth.
what I am is what I am and I does what I does.

Ironically, based on this thread it appears that trait has rubbed off on her offspring.

I think it should be made clear that this is not a private messageboard. Anyone out there could browse on here and see it.. It may be private based off of your fake names but that's about it..

I also think it is a little odd that you post this for all to see and then get upset about having to defend your posts when some disagree's with the manner in which you guys take to mock your Mom... This is why I think it is best suited to creat some yahoo group to link your guys together where you can flesh out your frustrations in a more presonal private matter (However theraputic it is for you).. I am not saying you don't have any validity to your frustrations towards you mom. Please keep that in mind.. But again, I don't know you and your Mom so how can I take your words about your Mom as truth as well..

I think it's great none of you would speak ill of your mothers. The difference is, ours is not a "mother" in the sense you have. Doccoug has the best relationship with her in the bunch and I think they've managed to connect but HC is correct in her assessment: you'd never think to seek advice, consolation, encouragement, etc., from her because she doesn't have any of it to offer.

It seems odd to you; perfectly normal to us. I'm sure that's tragic but that's the point. We choose to make light of it instead of crying like a bunch of babies. It is what it is.
