I'm not going to go into comprehensive detail about my Lego purchases this Xmas season.

This year the Gobinator had been asking for the Black Pearl pirate ship, so I went with that one instead.

We have the Millenium Falcon which is awesome. Or I should say it looked awesome for the day or so it was intact.

I have a love/hate with kits. They are a huge ripoff from a piece count perspective, but they are usually the only way to get certain speciality pieces or minifigs and for the time they are intact, they look cool. I usually break down and grab some kits but also pick up miscellaneous brick boxes to augment the supplies. But my main addiction is buying bricks by the pound. That recent Walmart deal was a great price, though. Had to pounce on that one.

I feel the same way about Trio blocks. My son loves them, and the kits are awesome, but buying big lots of them on eBay is the best way to add volume to his structures. The Millennium Falcon is cool no matter what you do. I'm more excited than the boy is about the Millennium Falcon shaped sandwich cutter that came with his SWANH lunch box.

I picked up this bad boy at Home Depot on Black Friday:



20V lithium ion. Super lightweight and tons of torque. I love it.

I had to use it a couple of times in the last month so I unwrapped it, used it, and rewrapped it. I joked about it a time or two in a thread somewhere here on CUF. I think it was this thread.

woke up late, went to church, sang in perhaps the worst quartet ever (talk about a train wreck, our first run through was better than what we did today) came home, opened presents, and now we're about to eat lunch.

When it comes to singing it's the effort that counts! My parents have an unfair advantage in their ward choir with a former broadway singer in their midst. This chick rocked Do You Hear What I Hear today and every single person in the building was crying. Unreal voice.

We had a very low key Christmas morning. The kids excitement filled.the air and has carried over to this afternoon. We went to church and then out to breakfast with my parents. I am enjoyimg this 52° evening and grilling some teriyaki chicken as my wife is frying homemade wontons and soon to start the tempura veggies and shrimp. Yummy.

Great day. Went to church, opened presents. Our kids this year had a homemade/wooden Christmas. Wooden puzzles, guns, spinners, tops, horses, and those wooden train whistles. We also made some other homemade toy guns. Relatives sent more commercialized gifts. It was spectacular and so simple. The kids put energy into each others gifts (instead of just me digging into the wallet). We also had them make their own wrapping paper and color it. Because of this, they were very loving to each other, which is pretty abnormal.

I cooked a ham, mashed potatoes, had a Brazilian ceia with pounds of fruit...grapes, watermelon, pineapple, kiwi, mangos, apples, oranges. I just wish I had some goiaba.

Time to watch a movie with the kids and then, when they are sufficiently asleep, off to bed

I wish I could feel that way, but I'm a little more demanding of myself and others. I'll be honest. I was not the problem this morning. I was singing 1st tenor and had the melody, which I know very well and have sung numerous times. I don't know how things went south so quickly. I think the 2nd tenor and the bass lost it and couldn't get it back. We finally got things together for the last measure and ended with a nice harmony, but overall it was very embarrassing. I take consolation in the compliment that a good friend gave me. He said "You sounded great, but the rest . . ." If only quartets worked that way.
