  • The temps will hit around 20 degrees on Monday night. My staff are already asking if they can work from home on Monday. I mentioned that it won't freeze until at least 10pm Monday night but they are still all freaking out. It'll be interesting to see who shows up on Monday even though the temps all Monday should be in the low 40s until late at night. Sometimes Houstonians crack me up.

    • They probably have kids out of school or a spouse who doesn't work with MLK day. They are trying to do something with them.

Maybe no one in Texas gets MLK day off.

Mid 40's and lows into the 20's, that's a beautiful March day in Rexburg, as long as the wind doesn't blow.

We work in accounting. Even if we had MLK day off we’d still be working since it’s reporting season and the year end audit just started. Today was a 9/80 Friday and we still all worked a full day

          • Daughter #1 woke up to -2 in Minneapolis. Daughter #2 saw an incredible -35 in Bozeman. Did you know that -40 is where Celsius and Fahrenheit are the same? Bend is holding steady at -2 and snow is currently pummeling the mountains. In the last week Mt. Bachelor has basically doubled its snow accumulation. Mrs. NWC thought she could escape subzero temps while staying at a McKenzie River cabin with a girlfriend for the weekend. Ha, Rain turned to sleet this morning and knocked out her power. Daughter #4 is enjoying a balmy 35 in SLC.

Dang. I just went for a run and it was cold. It was 50 and I wore gloves and ear covers.

                    • I shoveled the driveway just before nightfall, probably around 2 inches of powdery snow. Last I looked, there was another 2ish inches accumulated. Forecasts were calling for upwards of 10 inches between today and tomorrow, which is a lot for the Treasure Valley.

Temperatures are also low. I think today's high was in the teens. By the time I was halfway done shoveling tonight, my fingers were already freezing, even though I was wearing some of my warmest gloves. The forecast calls for continuing freezing temperatures until Wednesday when the high is supposed to get to a balmy 34 degrees.

One benefit of the recent weather is that our church services tomorrow have been canceled.

It barely got to 65 today.

                        • It snowed the whole day yesterday. I shoveled the back deck three times for the dogs, and it all came back just the same:

Very quiet and peaceful today. And hey, I saw an email that the stake cancelled church today! Now everyone can enjoy the peacefulness!

                          • That's eerily pretty with all that snow...

The temp outside right now is 33 degrees and it'll get to 30 by early morning. Tomorrow the temps will hover around 32. Time to start dripping the faucets on both ends of the house.

                              • I golfed on Friday, and it was so nice I golfed again on Saturday. And that was so nice I golfed again on Monday (though we did have a 90-minute frost delay on Monday. So I woke up, saw the text about the frost delay, and made bread pudding with some leftover rolls and muffins. We ate bread pudding and then I went golfing).
