It was snowing in the Boise area today.

Not that unusual when the system comes from the south or southwest.

        • Cloudless blue skies in Portland - I think I'll go for a bike ride today.

          • I got a snow blower for Christmas. The missus said I needed one since I have lower back problems I'm working through right now. I used it for the first time on Saturday after we got 5 inches of snow. I just used it again after about 3" of snow. It probably took me 1/4 the time it would have taken to do it by hand. I may never go back to doing it old school.

The downside is I feel a little guilty for not helping any of my neighbors. The guilt passed pretty quickly and I'm completely over it.

I think we've only had snow stick on the ground once so far this winter. And it melted off my driveway/sidewalks within a day of falling. So I haven't shoveled any snow yet this year. Hooray for global warming!

              • We picked up 4 or 5 inches of snow at our house overnight. 50 miles up the road in the town of Mount Shasta, my friend woke up to 33 inches of new snow overnight.

                    • I thought about you non-southern california people when snowmageddon was predicted. We got about 3 inches in town, and about 10 inches on Mt. Bachelor.

Mammoth, in town, got over 40 inches in a day and a half. Down at my house we ended up with at least a foot.

They are saying they could get up to 10 ft on the mountain.

Is the California drought over yet?

lol, I wish. As of right now we have received 1/2 of what would be considered a normal year. https://cdec.water.ca.gov/snowapp/sweq.action

Up north, our rainfall totals are close to what that graphic shows - about 60% of average for this time of year. We've had a good week, but are still way behind schedule.

Looks like this snow is going to have to be shoveled. Several more inches forecasted to drop through this afternoon. Mostly cloudy skies for tomorrow with highs barely above freezing, so unlikely to get much snow melting. Another storm coming through on Monday.

At least it's good for the skiers and the mountain snow pack, I guess.
