5 yrs off - 1.4 km -- Didn't see any smart phones, the watches looked old school too. I did see a video camera that looked pretty modern, went too early.

2 yrs off - 116.4 km -- Saw what looked like Hebrew, and the soldiers had the star of David on their hats. I picked right after WW2 in Jerusalem.

1 yrs off - 149.5 km -- Didn't see a lot of useful writing, but what I could pick out seemed German. I saw DDR, so I went with Berlin thinking it was probably the west with all the commercial stuff listed, but maybe close to the East.

3 yrs off - 574.7 km - I couldn't place the street. I picked someplace west of Buckingham Palace. Didn't realize it was his trip to Ireland. I did note the flags, but dismissed them as flown for political purposes.

Edit: very similar to beefytee today.

P.P.S. JFK inauguration was in 1961. Why did I pick 1960?

          9600 - 3 years, 24.5 m - seemed recent

6325 - 3 years, 2325.8 km - Didn't clue in to Israel at all. Just plopped the pin in the middle of Europe. Went with 1945 figuring they were celebrating VE day.

8039 - 5 years, 361.4 km - Writing looked German, and with all the flags posted I thought Munich for the 1972 Olympics.

8251 - 6 years, 12.3 km - I was concerned about some of the writing on the building looking like another language, but went with NYC. A bit too early.

5012 - 0 years, 7095.9 - disregarded the flags and went with downtown Dallas in the year of his assassination

3yrs off - 12.4km Given the camera angle and the bus, thought it might be the Speed filming but I couldn't remember when that came out.

By the way, I'm playing Alex Trebek/Ken Jennings for the Jeopardy game we're presenting at tomorrow night's EQ party. I've written all the questions that cover a variety of topics. Here's one that I think will be easy, but maybe not: "He had U.S presidential aspirations and was asked to be George Wallace’s 1968 running mate until David O. McKay told him not to run."

9997 - 0 yrs - 168.8m - Didn't even notice QEII. I was just looking at Man From Snowy River
9323 (10000) - 1 yr - 127km - I have a bone to pick with this one. Speed was easy, and airport was easy, but I didn't think they would have closed down LAX, or even a part of one of the world's busiest airports for filming, so I picked a remote airport in Mojave. According to Wikipedia, I was right. Also, upon looking at Wikipedia, while the movie was released in 94, filming completed in Dec. 93. I spend way too much time analyzing this game.
9164 - 2 yr - 136km - Definitely an older Hitchcock and went with Marseilles, because one of the boats was from there.
                  8194 - 4yr - 606km - Picked Munich
10000 - 0 yr - 12.8m - Immediately recognized the Monument of the Dead in Amsterdam. My wife accuses me of being obsessed with the royal family. More of a fascination so the year was known.

Wasn't there a book or something that just came out about the David O Mckay/ETB exchange about him running as VP? I recently heard a feature on it on Radio West... or maybe some other NPR program. I searched but can't find it.

                          • My best day in a while, I think. 41,358

9791 - 2 years, 457.0 m - Brisbane was obvious, was a little early on the release of Man From Snowy River (a quite enjoyable movie)

9154 - 4 years, 11.6 km - Looked like an airport but similarly didn't think they'd have access to an LAX runway so just plopped it down near Santa Monica as a hedge for whatever airport it was actually filmed at. Was a little early on the release of Speed

6873 - 10 years, 127.3 km - Should have considered Cannes. I went near Marseille, though I didn't notice any Marseille clues. The boat behind him being named "Atlant..." something or other made me think it was French Riviera. Went with default 1962.

8894 - 0 years, 606.0 km - Didn't recognize the structure in the background. Figured I'd try the Munich 1972 Olympics again, which got me the right year but not quite the right city or country. One of these times, 1972 Munich will be right.

6646 - 8 years, 354.5 km - Didn't recognize the location, went with London a bit too early.

I didn't know that, but ETB was my guess, too. My wager would have depended on the category.

There was a British flag on one of the buildings, and an Air France signed as well. So I couldn’t figure out what country to choose.
