I was chatting with my doctor son about this. One of the most time consuming and tedious jobs parts of his job is all of the data entry and documentation he hast to do for each visit with a patient. It seems to consume every spare minute he has both at work and at home. He said some doctors are able to hire a personal scribe who follows them around with a laptop and listens in on each visit and does a lot of the data entry for them. There's a cost to that, but it allows the doctor to see more patients. Well, it turned out turns out that AI could be a major game changer for the medical industry. He said that IHC is testing a new app where you can turn it on on your phone at the beginning of a visit and it listens to the entire visit and at the end you just tell it to summarize for you and it creates an appropriately crafted and formatted summary of all of the pertinent medical information from the visit that is typically required for the physicians data entry. He didn't opt in on the trial, but the other doctors he works who have tried it say it works unbelievably well. He said one doc was almost in tears telling him about it. I'll let you know when we get a full report after he tries it."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Yeah, I see AI automating a lot of dumb tasks and even killing some low paying jobs. For example, Apple started using AI to narrate audiobooks. I have been playing around with AI object detection on the side. It is actually to the point where it is very useful. The problem right now, however, is the accelerator chips (like Google Coral) are kind of hard to come by due to the chip shortage."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

Those robots are made of gold...
OpenAI, the startup behind ChatGPT, discusses tender offer that could value it at $29B
OpenAI says that its ultimate goal is for its technology to achieve what researchers call “artificial general intelligence,” which is a state where AI can fully mirror the intelligence, creativeness and thoughtfulness of humans. Altman, in a December interview with the Journal, said that OpenAI’s tools can potentially have a transformative effect on society similar to that of the smartphone. He believes AI can be used to come up with solutions to some of the largest challenges facing the scientific community today.
In the meantime, though, OpenAI clearly needs more money if it wants to get there. The company claims to be generating “tens of millions of dollars” in revenue and believes it is on track to hit $1 billion in annual revenue by 2024, Reuters reported previously. However, Altman has also stated that OpenAI intends to avoid going public or getting acquired.
“ChatGPT has really opened people’s eyes to how far AI has progressed,” said Holger Mueller of Constellation Research Inc. “It’s reached a point where it’s no longer clear if a human or an AI has performed the work. So it’s not surprising that this has caught the eye of investors who want to get in early. OpenAI is a tricky case, though, because it doesn’t want to go public, so a tender offer is the most viable way for investors to jump on the ChatGPT AI bandwagon early.”"If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

At its best--presently--it's like an egg sandwich at Starbucks, which is no substitute for an egg sandwich with fresh made egg at your favorite New York deli. And it may get your order wrong because the ingredients may be wrong, garbage in garbage out. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

I read the other day that Google is in full-on panic mode right now. This is the first real threat to their search engine dominance. They are scrambling to catch up and offer similar features, but they are way behind."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? I'm not talking about it as a search engine. It may be better for that than google. All it's doing is surfing and synthesizing.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

I think you are grossly underestimating what ChatGPT could become. What’s wild to me is that I always pictured AI would come for the service and production type of jobs. In actuality this thing presages the loss of white collar jobs. How long before it can beat a human lawyer in the courtroom? It’s got to at least raise an eyebrow in your world.Originally posted by SeattleUte View Post
