I know it has been mentioned before, but I really love the iPhone version of the DIRECTV app. Superbly designed interface and the search feature is lightning fast. In fact, I seldom bother using the TV interface to set my DVR anymore. Much faster and easier to use the app. Best thing about DIRECTV.

Now they need to add DVR access to the iPad app. I.e., play videos from any DVR using the iPad as a playback device.

Its live tv only, and only certain channels. You can also set your DVR via the app as well as use the app as a remote for your DVR.

Yeah, and it is a limited set of channels. But who on earth watches live TV anymore? I want my DVR!

I like the DISH app. It basically moves DISH to your iPad. You need the Sling component in your receiver, though.

Yes. If you have the DISH DVR with built-in slingbox. Which makes it no different than any other DVR combined with an external slingbox.

That was the most attractive thing when I was considering moving to DISH.

Unfortunately, that was the only attractive thing I could find.

Yes, I guess so. The church's servers do block some things. But generally with the DISH app you can watch your DISH channels from anywhere you have your iPad and a decent wi-fi connection. So far I have used it to set my DVR remotely when I know I am not going to be home when a program runs. (Some football games, for example.)

I noticed on Weds that they block Facebook now. I hope they don't start blocking CUF!

CUF was blocked once when I tried to log on at my stake center, about two months ago. (I was waiting for a TR interview. Maybe that was why....)

With the slingloaded DVR you can do it from any internet connection. Same as watching your TV via slingbox.
