I think I am going to request an iPad as from ldc to help me properly celebrate the birth of Jesus. However I am hesitant to have her pull the trigger. I don't want one just because they are cool and have it be something that sits and gathers dust. She asked me where I will use it that instead of my laptop and I didn't have a great answer other than church, which didn't persuade her that it was a good purchase.

My Moroni app froze up again today in class. I make the effort to go to priesthood and this is how I am rewarded?

I think I'm ready to boot Moroni to the curb.

I echo jeff lebowski's question...what are the differences between the free and the paid?

            Dude, and tripple doody,

Honestly, not sure. I get the expensive one right from the get go and have not played around with the free one much. All I know is I have done all of my lessons strange from my iPad and I like being able to download present and last church mags. In other words, if the free one is working for you, then this may not do much more. I have spent 15 dollars way worse than this though. The dude supports the app well, I will say that.

Tell her that you have been thinking about running for congress and the cool kids are starting to use them there.

Seriously, you would use an iPad about anywhere you would use a device like a netbook and/or an ebook reader. They are great to use when traveling, to keep kids entertained in the car, to read news and email while eating breakfast, to update the calendar/todo lists while at church, and to watch videos while exercising.

                  I love the Comcast/Xfinity app.

Free and allows you to remotely access your comcast DVR, set programs to record, etc. It is an excellent interface. The search features are superior to those on the actual DVR...they are much faster, you can quickly filter by category and entering searches is fast because you dont have to use your TV remote to click on each individual letter. This is a great app.

I think it also works as a comcast remote while you are watching TV, but I havent tried that yet.

The commercials for that app have almost been enough for me to buy an iPad.

until then, though, i have no idea what i'm going to do with it other than read books. i downloaded a torrent of 500 books, and put some tv shows/music on it. we also just released a pretty cool ipad keyboard/case that i'm going to pick up. i can't really see a productive use for this thing right now.
I told you I would buy it! What kind did they get?

because of the apps they're developing, we're specifically prohibited from selling them

it's a 16GB wifi. this thing would be much much cooler if i had 3g.

                        • Tunnel Shoot.

Amazingly addictive, graphics are a mix of retro 80s and HD..think Geometry Wars but even better.

I bought the pro version but there is a free one, as well. I think the pro one was 99 cents? It has no ads, so I like that.

I'm trying to figure out how to play thisnin church without getting busted but might be tough because you have to use the iPad to shoot.

The kids love this one and so do I.

                          Get it.

I like it. Tunnel Shoot seems to be a remake of the open source game Torus Trooper (see the screen shot below). The two games are very similar in game play. I used to play Torus Trooper a lot on my laptop and was hoping someone would make an iPhone/iPad version so I could waste more time playing this game.

                            • For those that are into gaming, check out Epic Citadel. It is free and it is extremely impressive. For fans of Oblivion, you will likely enjoy this one.

It is basically a demo RPG, so you can download it, check it out, and delete it, but the graphics are superb and it is very exciting to see the future of portable gaming has arrived.

It is made by Epic, which uses the Unreal Engine (think Gears or Mass Effect 2, amongst others). This is basically a preview of the 4th iteration of the unreal engine and it is exciting. It also features Epics tablet controls, which are interesting to use. Worth a go to get a feel for it.

While this game is a demo (no true game play...just exploration) Epic has just released Infintiy Blade, which is a really cool RPG.

2011 and 2012 are going to be great years for portable gaming. Would be interested to see how the Unity Engine will enter into the iOS space. If it is half as good as Unreal, it will be...well....unreal.
