Work with me here, DDD, I'm new to Apple. I need mentoring.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Postsame people that knew to use two fingers to scroll in a frame within a frame.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

Apple is going to ditch Google maps.

Be sure to check out the 3D map animation at the bottom. Very cool.
I just hope this new map stuff in iOS6 includes a native navigation app!"There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

I am really enjoying an app called BeatMaker 2. It is a fairly sophisticated piece of music-making software that makes sketching out loops and licks a fairly simple endeavor. It also supports hooking up your iPad to a midi controller for all kinds of fun. If you enjoy noodling around making music, this app delivers more than $20-worth-o'-fun.

I'm no musician, but here is something I made in about an hour (after spending a few hours learning how to use the app beatmaker 2).

Fun stuff, in a Legend of Zelda meets Ratatat sort of way.Originally posted by RobinFinderson View PostI'm no musician, but here is something I made in about an hour (after spending a few hours learning how to use the app beatmaker 2).Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

Thanks. Without some expression (I don't have it hooked up to my midi controller yet... need a $75 midi connection) it will have that video game sound. The chirps and such also lend to that. I'm also thinking of getting a guitar input so that I can mix up some of LittleRobin's licks.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostFun stuff, in a Legend of Zelda meets Ratatat sort of way.
THIS isn't really a complete song, but is an interesting piano idea. That is the fun of the app... you can explore some ideas pretty quickly.

FTR, if you ask the MotionX GPS Drive app to take you to the ABQ airport, it will take you to the middle of a suburb about 10 miles from the airport.
Nav apps on the iPhone suck. I sure hope they fix this in the next iOS upgrade.
Also FTR, you can arrive at the ABQ airport 25 minutes before your flight and still make it."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

I read this article a few days ago about Apple replacing Google as their map provider for iOS 6. There is a chance that I saw the article on CUF, but I don't think so:Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostFTR, if you ask the MotionX GPS Drive app to take you to the ABQ airport, it will take you to the middle of a suburb about 10 miles from the airport.

The article doesn't say anything about GPS, but I am hoping that this is a sign that Apple is taking control of and adding features to their native mapping capabilities.
On CUF's recommendation, I also use the MotionX app, and I have been generally pleased with it, but I agree that there is no great GPS app on the iPhone.
