My already-perfect iPhone7 had to be replaced/upgraded because of a manufacturing 'defect' in which the inner antennae/reception would zero out for no reason. :|

There’s got to be a market for it now that Samsung has finally dropped the headphone jack.
I use wired headphones all the time. Since I got a wireless charging pad I haven't been annoyed by the fact that you need a dongle to charge and use headphones simultaneously. But everytime I fly long haul I have to remember to bring my old 3.5 mm jack earbuds or else I am stuck using those horrible freebies from the airlines.

This was an interesting rollout. iPhone X was a big deal with face recognition and edge to edge glass, etc. This one just seems incremental. Like the refresh models one year after a major launch. Apple running out of ideas? Have we maxed out the smart phone platform?
I have heard that next year's iPhone will be the next generational change. I will keep my X until then.

        • I have the X. Unless my battery starts crapping out, I'll wait for the next upgrade.

The same thing happened with desktops/laptops. For many years there was a huge advantage to upgrading frequently due to speed, hardware changes, etc. but now the typical laptop has all the power you need for 99% of the things you do and the yearly updates don't make much of a difference. I have a 3-yr old MacBook and it works great. I have computer replacement money coming in January, but I don't really need a new computer.

The new iPhone 11 is even more waterproofy... IP68 rating (compared to IP67 on the iPhone XR). Now you can sink the iPhone 11 down 4 meters for up to 30 minutes (compared to only 1 meter for up to 30 minutes with the old iPhone XS/XR).

Yes! Use it or lose it money.

Somebody is going to inherit a sweet used laptop.

Intel has been sucking when it comes to making better/faster CPUs. The Apple CPUs (A12, A13) are starting to pull ahead. Even the new entry level iPad that was announced today makes Windose laptops look bad:

The new 10.2-inch Retina display iPad has nearly 3.5 million pixels and a wide viewing angle making it a vivid canvas for creative expression and perfect for immersive augmented reality (AR) experiences that take advantage of its enhanced cameras and advanced sensors. Featuring the powerful A10 Fusion chip, the new seventh-generation iPad brings up to two times faster performance over the top-selling Windows PC for powerful multitasking and smooth gameplay in Apple Arcade.
                        https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2019/...arting-at-329/

All starting at $329. ($299 for edu customers)

So maybe you should get one of those iPad Pros instead of a new computer. That will play solitaire faster.

Just that. Some local fan boys chatting. Feel free to correct the impression, if it is in fact incorrect. But either way I think I am keeping my X until at least the next release.

With a POS A10 chip? Pffffft.

Yeah, I agree... The Dude should go for the A12X in the iPad Pro. He has the money.

You must not travel much. I don’t want multiple headsets and Bluetooth pods die way to quickly for all day use. Especially if you’re on an international trip. Plus Bluetooth buds don’t have noise canceling capabilities. At least none that I’ve found that are worth anything.
