So plastic iPhone5 is now the iPhone 5c. The new 5s gets a 64-bit processor. Sounds cool and fast. Upgraded camera, free iPhoto and iWork apps and iOS 7. The most interesting is the M7 processor which is supposed to track movements and they're working on a fitness app with Nike. Also prices have dropped for both. Still pretty meh. I guess there is a fingerprint sensor too. Big whoop.

I am thinking to myself "why would I want a 64-bit processor in my phone"? The main reason to have a 64-bit processor in your computer (or laptop) is to address more that 4GB of RAM. Is the 5s going to have more than 4GB of RAM?

I think I might upgrade my 4s to a 5s. The camera upgrades alone may make it worth it. But I have to admit, I was hoping for something a little more grand with this upgrade. NFC would have been nice too.

I like the screen size. It fits perfectly in my pocket. I may change my mind in 5 years when presbyopia starts to set in.

Still no NFC in the iPhone. That is really bizarre. I realize that there still isn't widespread implementation, but you are likely going to have a phone for 2 years that isn't up-to-date. In Utah you can pay for mass transit and parking with NFC, which is quite nice.

I know the Android honks love to point this out every six months, but there's just not enough applicable usage of NFC to generate demand. Once there is, the iPhone will have it. Having something up-to-date is only worth as much as the usefulness of the technology.

Apple doesn't get it. How about an increase in screen size?

The current screen size is perfect for me. The last thing I want is a gigantic phone in my pocket. If people want a bigger screen they can get an iPad mini.

Hey Ted, is there a way to limit time use on certain apps? Like to allow, say, unlimited Kindle/iBooks use, but limit other apps to 30 minutes a day or something? My 12 yr old bought himself an iPad and has turned from a big reader into a big app player.

I need to find a good one for my kids iPods as well, so if anyone has a recommendation....

We have time limits on our computer and tablet, but after that time is up they just go and grab their iPod.

Except that you are locked in for 2 years and NFC is starting to see more implementation.

And the handful of people who care about that aren't going to buy an iPhone in the first place. And the other handful of people who care about it ex-post-facto are going to find a way to get out of their iPhone if they really care about it. As for the millions and millions of others who don't care about it, they will be just fine. Also, most companies allow for an upgrade credit after 1 year, so you can stop with all the 2-year nonsense.

I disagree, it's best for your unit to have both length and width. Those who don't think size matters are lying and are in denial of what they're missing and of the extra utility of what comes with more size. I'm able to manipulate things better with more size.
