I don't think the change is that big of deal for me. I do have two reservations:
1. Does this mean you cant charge the phone and use your earbuds at the same time? That would be a problem for me as I use my phone at work a lot and I keep it charging and use the ear buds.
2. it would be fairly simple to use an adapter for cables to other amplifiers (like a stereo, etc.) but it would be a little annoying. As to the ear buds, as long as they dont become exorbitantly expensive due to the word "beats" on them somewhere, I am not bothered by this change.PLesa excuse the tpyos.Comment

I love the part from the Newsweek story about the standard headphone jack "only" being to produce CD quality sound.
I'm sure there are all kinds of people pining for this supposedly better than CD sound quality through their headphones.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”Comment

I imagine that quality headphone manufacturers will license the right to use integrate the lightning port into their headphones. Apple products are just too prevalent for headphone manufacturers to ignore. I have a big investment in headphones/earbuds. Bluetooth is great in some circumstances, sucks in others. And I certainly don't want to be tied to having to buy apple earplugs because they have a long track record of sucking.Originally posted by old_gregg View Post
