B&H is well known in the SLR community and their prices on camera gear are tough to beat. It appears as if it applies to their phones and computers.
I went to their store in New York a couple times. It's owned and operated by Hasidic Jews, all the employees are these men wearing the whole get-up. A grad student from CU is selling his 2014 Macbook Air (the previous model to the current one) -- has a 256 gb SSD, 8gb RAM, the i7 processor and Applecare for two more years (so this guy bought it a year ago). The battery has only gone through 175 cycles. My wife offered him $875 and he countered at $925.
The 2014 model vs the 2015 model with the same upgrades would cost around $1,460 (if you cut the Applecare extension cost in half). The differences between the 2014 model and the 2015 model, as far as I can tell, are a 2.2 Ghz i7 vs. a 1.7 Ghz i7, and the graphics processor is Intel HD 5000 vs. Intel HD 6000 -- whatever the hell difference that is.
The downside is there's a small mark (probably around a 10th of an inch or so) on the screen that you can see on a white background.Part of it is based on academic grounds.
