Apple Jan. 27 launch event... what will it be?

I think there could be, as well. Would have been cool to transfer something practical. There is another commercial for the S3 (I think) that shows someone snapping phone pics and then everyone around him immediately has the same pic on their phone. That seems like a cooler display of that technology.

All of these smart phone manufacturers are starting to get too clever for their own good. How much money went into Siri when they could have dumped it all into improving battery life or something that would benefit everyone. Just as very few people will trade playlists, I don't think I know anyone that uses Siri other than to show people Siri. I guess John Malkovich uses Siri when he is feeling too lazy to track down portuguese sausage.

I use Siri quite a bit in the car (it works well through the bluetooth connection). It's a useful way to text without having to pick up the phone. I also use to to find directions if I find I need them, which isn't really that often. However, other than in the car I don't use Siri much at all.

Apple's messaging also seems like a quick way to send pictures, in fact you can do it without having to touch phones. MJ and I have photostream setup where all of her pictures download to my phone and vice versa, which is nice as it's fun to click through her photos of the kids every once in a while. In fact, I'd prefer photo stream to the "touch and go" ways of the S3.

I use it all the time to set alarms, reminders, dictate texts, etc. I wish it were less buggy, but it is still handy.

Yep.

You can use Siri for nav now, but it just doesn't work well yet. The Scout app that I mentioned above has a voice search option that works quite well. Fast and accurate in my testing thus far. I wonder if it uses Google search under the hood?

I still can't get Scout to do voice navigation. But it recognizes voice queries well.

For those with the iPhone 5, what case (if any) are you using? I had an Otter Box Defender on my 4 which was great for protecting the phone, but very bulky in the pocket.

It works pretty well although it's not as protective as an OtterBox. I also got a version of the Zagg screen protector that doesn't feel like you're using a screen protector. I can't remember the model but it's working out well.
