There is a rumor going around that the iPad 3 (or 2HD) will come in 8/16/32 GB versions, and that they are dropping the 64 GB due to lack of demand. But there are a ton of rumors, so who knows.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostNot only no hope, but no need. Why pine for expandable storage? Throw it all on the cloud. If anything, it reduces the need for a 64g option unless you literally want a thousand apps on your device.
Isn't iCloud storage limited to 5 GB, and you have to pay for more annually for storage beyond the limit? I would think if you were loading up pictures, movies, tv series, etc., it could get used up pretty fast. You can by SD cards at about $1.00/GB, and that is not an annual fee.
I understand that it doesn't fit into Apple's business model, and is one of the sacrifices I'll have to make to enjoy their excellent hardware, interface, and community. It would be a better customer experience overall if they included SD or MicroSD cards.

I find that hard to believe. I have a 64GB iPad and it is typically 80% full.Originally posted by chrisrenrut View PostThere is a rumor going around that the iPad 3 (or 2HD) will come in 8/16/32 GB versions, and that they are dropping the 64 GB due to lack of demand. Yeah, there are so many rumors out there, it's hard to know what to believe. I can't wait for Wednesday so the speculation can end. I'll be in line for an iPad 3 one way or another when it comes out.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostI find that hard to believe. I have a 64GB iPad and it is typically 80% full.
Better resolution, upgraded processor, and Siri is are about only consensus upgrades at this point. 4G is considered by most, but is still doubted by some.

the screen and processor are what I care about most. Siri is an afterthought. I don't want to be that moran walking around downtown yelling at my tablet to help me find a hamburger.Originally posted by chrisrenrut View PostYeah, there are so many rumors out there, it's hard to know what to believe. When it comes to data storage, I find the cloud to suit my needs adequately. I am not the type of user that needs instant access to everything I own. I am happy storing all my movies and music at home and putting a bit of each up on the cloud. As I get bored with a movie or tire of certain music, I simply switch it up from my home computer.
I agree with you about the 64G rumor. I have also read the same thing although it sounds very unlikely.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I personally find it hard to believe as well but a lot of folks that I work with always buy the iPhone with the least amount of memory because they stick a lot of their stuff up in the iCloud. Of course, they are usually connected to a very fast network (especially to where their stuff is stored).Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostI find that hard to believe. I hardly use the DVD drive on my macbook pro and have been thinking of removing it to make room for a SSD.Originally posted by chrisrenrut View PostOk, that makes more sense. I wish Apple would get on board with removable/expandable storage. I guess there isn't much hope for that with cloud storage being emphasized now."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

I get by just fine with a 16 GB iPad. I don't store any music or photos on it.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

So the iPad 3 looks almost exactly like the iPad 2? Maybe they should just call it the iPad 2S. I'm not at all excited about the new iPad. I'm perfectly happy with my iPad 2."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. yeah, it isn't going to be as dramatic a change as you usually see from one apple release to another.Originally posted by Moliere View PostSo the iPad 3 looks almost exactly like the iPad 2? The problem isn't so much the case as it is the buzz.....or lack of buzz. Higher resolution screen? So what, the screen is small to begin with. Are there any other leaks other than the screen? Updated camera (not that the iPad is usable for taking pictures)? Removable storage? 4G/LGE? Longer battery life?Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Postyeah, it isn't going to be as dramatic a change as you usually see from one apple release to another.
There is so little buzz that my excitement just hasn't been kindled. I'll wait for the iPad 4."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. I still have my iPad 1. It still works great, but I am going to upgrade this time.Originally posted by Moliere View PostSo the iPad 3 looks almost exactly like the iPad 2? Maybe that is the demographic they are going after, iPad 1 users. I was a 3GS user before buying the 4S, but I know many 4 users that didn't feel the 4S was enough to trade in the phone. Apple obviously knows what they are doing and maybe they are trying to keep people leapfrogging updates. I'll likely end up trading in my iPad 2 for a iPad 4 when they come out.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostI still have my iPad 1.
