A big old splinter, a couple of inches long, jammed right underneath my big toenail. Oh baby that hurt. But even worse was getting the local anesthetic for it to be removed, which started with a needle being stuck under the same toenail near the firmly lodged splinter. Almost passed out.

Btw, a safety tip from me to you parents, don't let your kids play kickball barefoot near cheap furniture that has unfished edges.
    PLesa excuse the tpyos.

The story isn't nearly as sexy as it sounds. I was hunting birds with my friend when were about ten or so. His pellet gun had a hair trigger and it went off as he was handing it to me. I got two pellets in my calf at point blank range. They went in about four inches. Family doc removed them using a local anesthetic.

Boy you would have thought that my leg had been blown off with a howitzer the way I screamed. I thought I was going to die.

I actually posted mine on CG when it happened. I was playing softball, left field to be exact. Deep fly ball runner on third was tagging, I looked up to check the runner ball came down in my glove but I had my throwing hand in the glove at the time. The ball hit me square on top of my middle finger it shattered all the way down my finger and in to my hand. That was not the worst part, went to the doctor, he said he needed to puncture my finger nail and had nothing to use, so he grabbed some needle type thing that heats up and says "Not sure if this will work but we will try it" (I think Mike Waters said it is called a Bovie?)

I turned my head and he punctured my fingernail, however the machine actually shocked me at the same time, so he sent however many volts to a little tiny spot under my finger nail, I screamed ripped my hand away and splattered blood all over the wall. I was buzzing for about 10 minutes. (You know the electrocuted feeling).

        Worst pain of my life.

I've thrown out my back several times. I once fainted in the dr's office.

Another time I had a cyst above and abscess tooth that needed to be pulled. the cyst made it so that novacaine would not work. the dentist had to pull the tooth without any pain meds. I was sweating so much my shirt was drenched when I drove home.

No doubt about it: gout. It feels like a demon is biting your toe. The sensation of air blowing on it from a fan is more than I can bear. Allopurinol has stopped this pain forever, but before I started that therapy, I'd have an acute attack every 1-2 months. It hurt so bad once that I actually considered wetting the bed rather than having to walk on it to go to the bathroom. I can't imagine worse and more unrelenting pain. Every heartbeat was like a white-hot dagger being jammed into my toe.

Like Jeff Lebowski I sprained an ankle so bad that it still makes me wince thinking about it.

However, the worst pain ever was when I dislocated my elbow and it hyper-extended 90 degrees backward. I flipped onto my back when it happened and for whatever reason I couldn't move anything from my waist up. Seriously it felt like a Mack truck had parked on my chest. My lower limbs though? My legs were flailing like crazy. I've never felt pain like that before. Even worse than when I had my slipped epiphysis in both hips.

I tore my knee up skiing and after the operation they had some tube stuck down in the cast. The doctor came in to take the tube out and he warned me it was going to hurt and it did.

I passed a kidney stone. Start to finish 3 hours.

I carried an HP4050 printer 2 blocks after the pain started. I drove to an ER 8 miles away. (Pain started in an ER of the hospital where I was fixing a printer, but I don't trust the folks there, so I packed a printer two blocks and drove.)

Thought I was going to pass out driving.

The pain was so bad, that my wife actually left. She couldn't handle seeing me in that much pain. She didn't know what to do...so she called my mother and asked her to watch over me...

The doctors didn't have time to give me any pain medication. No one was in the room, and I felt like I had to pee. So I went into the bathroom...plink. I look down and the water is red. I fall to my knees on the floor in pain.

Doctors come in as I am walking back to the ER stall thingy. They couldn't believe what I had done.

They gave me Tordal in my leg as a reward.

Back in 1985, I was playing quarterback on a Monday night when a huge linebacker came on a blind side blitz. The way the hit went down my leg basically folded in on itself the wrong way. I had to quit playing and take up broadcasting. That was seriously painful.

My mom says her kidney stone was worse than labor and this was pre-epidural times... So congrats. You now know what labor is like.

Yep. But mine never passed. Eventually had surgery to remove.

I threw my back out putting a dislocated hip back in place-talk about irony.

Riding the Whiterim this past summer with an infected big toe was awesome - every pedal stroke was like a hammer on my toe. Great trip though. Can't wait to go again.
