My daughter convinced us to get her a MacBook for school. I bought it days ago and it still hasn't shipped and they can't tell when it will. For the money, I could buy two or three PC laptops equal to what she's getting, and not get the shitty customer service and buggy online store.

It's disheartening how expensive they have become, but the reality is you made the right choice. Of the 60 - 80 who show up in the first year of a Graphic Design (or like creative discipline) program, it would be tragic if she were one of the dozen or so that arrive on the first day with a Dell, or Acer or ... ? Who, inevitably, by mid-term, or at least the end of the first year end up going out and buying a Mac.

JL hates Apple and yet he not only owns an iPhone, he owns an iPhone that doesn't even have a headphone jack.

                It's true. I loathe Apple.

That stupid iPhone 7 I got last November has never worked properly. After four trips to the Apple Store I finally convinced them to swap it out for a new one last night. I guess that's my karma for speaking out against the damn thing.

We got a Mac desktop a couple of years ago, after decades of Windows computers. I feel the same. I don't care anymore about how 'open' a PC is anymore; most of the stuff I do is online and the Apple software does everything I need.

I switched back to an iPhone (the 7) from Samsung recently and I like it just fine, despite our IT guy observing, "Hmm, this is the first instance I've seen where a dude has switched back to an iPhone. Until now it's only been women who do that."

The software we use at the office only works on Windows. There are cloud computing options that would make an Apple an option, but at an increased cost. We'll stick with PC's at the office for now.

                        Sorry, Ted.

I came pretty close to going back to Apple with my last phone upgrade, but ultimately decided to stay in the Samsung galaxy.

                          Sorry, Ted.

Random crap. I had to do a hard reset once or twice per day. Apps would just stop working. Diagnostics would indicate hardware, not software but everytime they did a software wipe it didn't make a difference.

Now my new laptop (2016 MBP) is doing the same kind of thing. Several things don't work and random restarts. Spent 3 hrs on the phone today with Apple tech support and they couldn't fix it. Taking it in on Thursday.

I know several in the media arts who are switching to PC. The MS Surface is gaining a lot of respect in that arena.

I'm like Lebowski. I have a 2016 Macbook Pro that is a decent computer but has a significant degree of annoyance built in. The reality is it's not really any better than the Dell I have at work.
