You don't need a CPU fan unless you buy a K or X chip.Originally posted by falafel View PostHere is one I put together today. Anything seriously wrong with this? I'm not sure I need the CPU fan.

As Ol Dirty Bastard said, there could be a problem with the RAM. I don't know a ton about an AMD build, except I would note that Intel has a dominant market share and these different computer parts will first be optimized for Intel's chips with AMD being an afterthought. Whether this really makes a difference -- I have no idea. One thing I will note, is I have no idea how AMD's chips interact with NVME drives, particularly as a boot drive.
I really like that mobo. You want to have at least a 550w power supply in the event you get a video card. The reason I wish I got the 650 W is because I would prefer my system to only be using around less than 60% of my PSU in the event I get a video card. It was only a $10 difference.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

From what I have read, the new Ryzen chips are really good, although nothing really beats the i7 7700k for gaming. The Ryzen 5s are excellent however.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Ryzen 5 is a good choice for a build these days. A 6 core / 12 thread CPU at a little over 200; that's great. Yes, many modern games benefit from the better per core performance of the intel chips, but I would think with a 1050 ti the CPU would rarely be your fps bottleneck (somebody like gamers nexus has probably done careful benchmarks of this). Arguably, Ryzen 5 will be more future proof because software and apps in the future will likely only get better at taking advantage of the additional cores (particularly since the rumors about Intel's coffee lake is that they are increasing the core count of the mainstream line).Originally posted by falafel View PostGotcha.

I haven't done a Ryzen build yet, but I think a probably will in the next few months.Last edited by pelagius; 09-19-2017, 05:01 PM.

Spend the extra $20 on the NVME solid state, that's the 960 EVO. It's super easy to install, no sata or power cord to mess with. The speed of the thing is insane.Originally posted by falafel View Post
That's a good deal on the mobo, read some of the reviews on newegg and on Tom's Hardware to make sure there isn't some kind of issue with it.
The power supply is not modular, however I'm not sure if it's worth an extra $20 to get the Seasonic Focus + Gold just because it's modular.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Also, it might be better to get the Cryorig H7 instead of the M9i. Read the reviews, see if the M9i is quite a bit louder than the H7.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Why don't you guys just go on KSL and buy the computers gamer nerds build for themselves and then can't afford anymore, which are maybe not quite the same spec, but close, and several hundred cheaper, and not a pita to build yourself?

Because those people always think that a 10% off what they paid 6 months ago and then played Fallout 4 non-stop on the machine is a good deal.Originally posted by jay santos View PostWhy don't you guys just go on KSL and buy the computers gamer nerds build for themselves and then can't afford anymore, which are maybe not quite the same spec, but close, and several hundred cheaper, and not a pita to build yourself?Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. Like this guy, who wants $1800 for a PC that would cost $1100 to build new.Originally posted by old_gregg View Postvery overpriced and full of cheeto dustAin't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.
