In my experience, JeffLebowski lets it play out and is not heavy handed. I say this as a non-EC member and as a non-mod.

this johnnylingo thing is a perfect example. I am pretty transparent in my desire to simply chop off the heads of those that, by consensus, add almost nothing to this site (who are, admittedly, extremely few in number). If it were me, I would have shown these few folks the door and taken away the key. Again, this is my personal opinion. Nobody has lobbied harder on behalf of those limited few than the EC....guys like JeffLebowski.

ps pelagius and UtahDan are batsh*t crazy insane, on the other hand. I will give you that.

we share a lot of the same message board DNA, mikewaters and I. I think mikewaters is cool, so I am definitely not offended by your comment (nor do I think you were trying to offend).

I'm just saying that you are a little off base on your earlier point. This isn't a JeffLebowski thing, as much as it is a entire board consensus thing. John, exute, all of us...we have all built our little homesteads here. Each of us came with 40 acres and a mule and few other restrictions. If you see similarities between here and CG it is because for the most part, people stay themselves across multiple platforms. Whatever edifice each of us has constructed here at CUF is of our own choosing.

Seems pointless to show up on your 40 acres, burn all your resources to the ground, salt the soil, and then once the seasons change, complain that your scorched Earth policy has now left you with a bleak future.

If you want to start anew, do what nature does......cleanse with fire and start over. Eventually, your soil will refresh and you can build up once again.

Don't get all pissy cause you weren't invited to speakeasy. Don't take it personally. I used to think it was totally stupid to have these invite only sections of the board. Then I realized, who cares? If a bunch of people want to get together on the internets and make fun of others, that is perfectly fine by me. In fact, I say, count me in! I'm up for some little bro slapping.

Also, if you get banned for a day or two, so what. Go do something productive. I used to cry and moan on CB because those guys just always seemed to misunderstand me. I got over it and realized that it was their board, not mine. This isn't your board, nor mine.

That is exactly the point I am making -- that the board consensus doesn't readily allow for the presence of Harry Reids. As the philosophical truism states: the more we try to innovate the more conservative we become.

The reality is Pelaguis and Creekster are the moderate voices here, yet we hear from them less and less outside of silly discussions about the committee.

I've always enjoyed reading your posts, because everytime I see one I'm reminded of Royal. Royal, you see, is like my dad. Our family is as screwed up as Royal's. So, I chuckle inside, and I know that Viking does too because we've talked about this. Maybe we all have a little Royal in our families:

People on this board are often surprisingly mean. I can't figure out why anyone would tell others to eff off, or that they aren't generally liked here. Meanness, apparently, isn't against the rules.

FWIW...a few months ago when you and I were going back and forth at each other, JL asked me to stop. I wasn't super happy about it but I did.

I am frustrated with your online persona, which I percieve to be one that is created to incite.

I at one point started a discussion that would have hopefully permanantly had you removed from the board. A few people agreed with me, a majority didn't. In fact, I believe everyone on the EC noted that they appreciated various POV's on the board even if I percieved them to be "inciteful and insincere".

You don't have to believe it, and I am sure that you wont, but you and Hallelujah are the two most protected posters on the board.

I like when Wuap lectures me (that is neither a single, double or even triple entendre). One of his CUF goals is to one day teach me how to use a comma. My current approach is to randomly put one in the middle of any sentence that looks too long.
