Actually I have been LOLing all day long. Yesterday I think the market is going to rally so I load up on "triple long big cap etf's". Market tanks 109 Dow pts and 40-50 on the comp. Needless to say I get hammered.

Then today the market goes up 197. Basically all that movement and I break even. I am a genius!!

Can we just give folks this thread that a few have been seeking? We can call it "The Foyer Part 2" or "The Conservative Foyer" or "The Non-confrontational Foyer" or "The Other Foyer" or "The Nice Foyer" or "The Respectful Foyer" or whatever name everyone feels comfortable calling it. Those that wish to post there can do so.

I just perused the first page of threads in the Foyer. There is, imo, very little that fits the description that those who are uncomfortable there often give.

I am not disagreeing. I am saying that there is apparently something in there that is lacking that some folks here CAN recognize as lacking. If tooblue is correct, those same folks are apparently not participating fully because of "it." tooblue is also saying that he doesn't want increased moderation. Similarly, RockyBalboa was calling for a place where people can share stuff without having to worry about being attacked.

Apparently this is a need, so why not just fill it? I don't get it. You don't get it. But it is evident that certain people here do get it. Just create a forum ("The Other Foyer") and then let it sit there. Those that previously felt unable to contribute could then contribute without fear of being attacked/questioned/challenged/disrespected or whatever the word may be. That that are not interested can ignore it. But at least there can be no more complaints that there is "no place" to share these things that people want to share.

As always, the traditional Forum can be used by everyone as it currently is used.

Based on some of the recent requests/complaints/observations, is it reasonable to assume that there will be a subsequent and remarkable increase in "feel good" type religious posts, experiences shared in this new proposed forum? Because if not, then what is all the fuss about? If so, then it will be a great forum for those that wish to use it.

My personal guess is that it will be much like the Literae Humaniores forum on CG...mostly Archaea rambling to himself about Greek verb conjugations. But hey..at least it is there and someone is getting some utility out of it.

Just a thought.

if you are asking for an overall shift in tone, you are in essence asking for a total change in the nature of the personae that interact on the board. Part of what makes this board what it is is that it is populated by a bunch of Type A and passive aggressive personalities that have a lot on their minds and that like to bounce things off the group. We also have a contingent that like to lurk and snipe here and there.

Absent medication or heavy sedation, CUF isn't going to experience a collective Blues Brothers-type epiphany. You are going down a path that will lead to inevitable frustration.

in general, yes, it would be possible. But here on CUF....it is not, at least not in the way you are doing it.

And especially with type A personalities.

The problem with this movement is that it is usually championed inefficiently. Calling people names and making negative accusations will almost never result in the desired change. Lobbing profanity at people will not result in the desired change (no, tooblue, you have not used profanity).

In fact, I would be willing to bet anything that this thread has simply further entrenched people. tooblue, to be fair, you yourself in this very thread have casted aspersions, betrayed confidences, and made accusations....in an effort to make your point heard. Hardly a shift in tone at all, despite what robinfinderson has suggested. In fact, I submit that you are actually more at home here than you care to admit.
