I'm purposefully not stating it explicitly because that sort of thing isn't a big part of the culture around here.
Not true for many of us, especially outside of The Foyer. You should just come out and say whatever it is you have on your mind because otherwise I'm likely to get too bored to care.
(I'm one of the explicit ones, BTW).
Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.
Last night I got a private message from a poster who is honestly concerned that I am a man pretending to be a woman. After my initial shock, I did what I could to reassure him that I am who I say I am. This morning as I was talking to a close friend about the interaction (she laughed, btw), I realized how creepy it is to think that I am a man going by the name of Rosebud and posting primarily on the subjects of pornography and child abuse. I thought over the posts that I've made, my writing and thinking style, my occasional aggressiveness, etc. and realized that the concern expressed in the message was somewhat justifiable.
So.. I thought I'd address this issue by finally coming down here to introduce myself. With that said.... I'm still not planning on giving much information (sorry). In fact, the worries of the poster who messaged me last night reiterated to me the reasons I have chosen not to post information that could be used to identify me. First and foremost, I'm the kind of person who is likely to post controversial material. Any unknown lurker has access to my posts. I'd prefer to stay anonymous so that I don't have to worry about my posts coming back to bite me in the real world.
I'm a woman and a mother. I believe that being a mother is the most important thing I have ever done or ever will do. I would pretty much do anything if I knew it would make my children's lives better. I enjoy writing, reading, classical music, and sculpture. My favorite sculptor is Rodin. My favorite beverage is V-8 fusion and I like to eat corn chips dipped in red pepper hummus.
I was born a Mormon. I live outside of Utah. I attend church every Sunday but rarely participate in weekly activities. I teach my kids that taking the sacrament is important but that participation in church activities has nothing to do with their relationship to God. I hope that they can develop real relationships with Him based on prayer and worship instead of an institution.
I can see how my posts could be misinterpreted, but I choose to post on issues that are important to me and important to women in general. I post on subjects that I have a sincere interest in and passion about. I will probably continue my pattern of posting on a couple threads that are significant to me instead of all over the board because posting here takes time and causes me to neglect other important work. But who knows? Maybe this WILL become my new social life.... I think it is more likely, though, to be a place I visit at times and get into passionate debates in when I find something I care about.
I am open to questions if anyone cares to ask them... but no promises that I'll answer .
Thanks for your welcome,
RoseBud
I like Rodin but I am particularly fond of Henry Moore. When they vote you into the Speakeasy resist -- fight the power
Because it was obvious from the get go that you were a penis envy femmanatzee and accusing such of being men is usually the easiest way to work them into a lather as they keep shouting from the rooftops: I AM A STRONG WOMAN!
I appreciate your sentiments Goat... but you don't know me from Eve.

Thanks for the suggestion niku... it's just that when people come out and say it they usually meet with so much defensiveness that it's hardly worth the time and energy. I'd like to avoid repeating a battle that's already been fought a hundred times before.

You and I, along with most others here, are pretty comfortable admitting that we need more attention. Maybe it takes a while.

I'll go back to not caring, then. Please don't take that personally because I don't mean it to be - it's just a statement of fact. I have a hard time caring about issues raised (implicitly or explicitly) by people I don't know outside of those issues.
If you wish to point out that I am appearing defensive about your explicit statement of implicit posting preference, I'll concede the point, I guess.

Hummmm..... this is SOOOOOOOOO mysterious. I wonder why EVERYONE thought I was a man. I mean, there I was..... new to the board, minding my own business and posting my opinions in the foyer.... so so strange.
"Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.
The rest of us rarely bother to think about our actions." --Solon

Perhaps because of the bare chested pictures of Jean Claude, implying a gay attraction? Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.

I was really hoping you'd go karaoke with John Mayer, but no dice, I guess.
ps for Rosebud: what nikuman is really saying here is save him time and get to the point so he can go back to talking about his favorite subject.
BTW... I knew you were a woman when you used that one photo of me previously.
we've had dupe accounts in the past where guys have pretended to be women. It's unheard of for an unattached, unknown female to show up in the CGCUF world uninvited, so that was the assumption. The mystery was fun and rosebud played into it.
