After sleeping on the game(my back is pretty sore), I gained some perspective. This was a sign of the bumps and bruises that occur when breaking in a new QB and 2 new coordinators. The red zone play calling definitely needs to improve. That worries me more than anything, esp if you are worried about missing 33 yard FG's. The grade out for Utah so far has to be C-. The offense made some nice plays in the 4th, but were stuck in 3rd and long too many times. I worry that the corners need to improve their play. We are not getting much pressure on the QB, and it looks like it is the result of a lack of blitzing(which is likely to protect the corners).

The game in Autzen will be a bellweather game for the rest of the season.

This is why I picked SJSU in an upset. Like I said, I'm glad I was wrong. When you're breaking in a new QB, OC, and playing on the road for the first time, weird things can happen. Plus, it was a little bit of a trap game after seeing what happened to SJSU last week and who Utah has next week. Winning yesterday, no matter how ugly, is a big deal. Utah will get better and better each week. That is the Whittingham calling card.

I tend to agree. I can see them either getting blown out at Oregon or, winning narrowly at Oregon and dropping one at home to Louisville or on the road at CSU or UNLV.

I don't see them losing to Louisville at home.

They will either lose to Oregon or at CSU, but it is unlikely they lose both, IMO. If they lose or even get blown out at Oregon, that will refocus them like the UNLV game. It will ground them and they will take CSU.

However, if they beat Oregon, then Louisville, I see them going into CSU with a lot of false confidence and dropping that game.

Does that make sense?

Now, should they show gradual improvement in all games, then I suppose they can get past CSU, too.
