Don't give SeattleUte more than one vote. IIRC he was the only one who didn't give Utah a chance.

I remember thinking that I just didn't know what would happen, and I was mainly hoping that we would not be blown out. That was the discussion at the Utah team hotel the day of the game. I thought we might pull off a close upset. No one, in their wildest dreams, thought Utah would win big.

No, not really. I'm mostly just trolling. There's some good discussion on what both wins mean, though.

I think the Sugar bBowl was a bigger win, mainly becase the team they beat had been ranked so high all season long. They had earned thier ranking. Oklahoma although a very good team was ranked this high before the season started. For all we know, they could be more of a 15-25 ranked team by the end of the season. Still, in lite of the stupid preseason ranking polls being so vital to the BCS, this win was huge.
Really, i like to think of both game victories as a 1,2 punch to the groin of the BCS.

AA set up an idiot test.

Babs, before you start pronouncing Staurday as beyond the realm of possiblity let's see how good Oklahoma turns out to be. Utah has beaten a Pete Carroll coached USC team. A big tradition doesn't make a team unbeatable by an MWC team, as we saw last year in the season opener in the Big House. BYU's win at South Bend may be as big or bigger.

I'm not convinced that Oklahoma won't be this year's Michigan. Regardless, unless BYU winds up 13-0, a BCS bowl champand and ranked 2 and 4 or something like that, Utah's win against Michigan last year was substantially bigger.

No. To finish 13-0 in a head to head in a post season game against a top tier team is a bigger deal than winning your opening game against a magazine ranked no. 3 team.

agreed. finishing 13-0 and winning a national championship as a result of a voter's poll is a HUGE deal and by far a bigger accomplishment than winning a season opener or a bowl game!

I didn't know you were so passionate about BYU football history. Maybe it is because this is the 25th anniversary of the National Championship?

No, you did, acting like it was some kind of close question. I don't believe AA's dissemble that he was trolling. Isn't this just like BYU fans to think that their first win of the season is one for the ages? BYU fans, this is why everyone hates you. Get some perspective! You have 12 games left, and they will indeed have to be PLAYED.

We can at least agree with SU that BYU's win over Bo Schembeckler's 84 Michigan team is more important than the Sugar Bowl win.

I don't think it is a close question.

To this date, Utah has still never beaten a #1 ranked team. Or a #3 ranked team. At least I don't think it has. BYU just did that this weekend. Again. This win will always be remembered, regardless of what time of year it was played.

Celebrate the U's overall mediocrity and total lack of media attention with us! Don't fight it!

Sorry to break it to you, but the BCS is alive and well. She's not even seemingly dead like the Alien she bitch.

I don't care to discuss which game was bigger. But I was wondering how each game helped or will help with recruiting?
