That is the one thing that concerns me about Cain, that he might be a JC version of Brandon Jones.Col. Klink: "Staff officers are so clever."

You could probably say it isn't bad because Utah has a ton of talent around him.Originally posted by USS Utah View PostSo I guess the situation is "bad" because it means it Utah most likely won't go undfeated. I'll take it.
I said it before and I will say it again, I believe that this year Utah is a really good qb away from making a BCS run because of the senior leadership that they have at certain positions.
2010 is a rebuilding year for both programs IMO."Take it to the Bank"

I just want to remind everyone what I wrote here on February 6, 2009.
I'm pleased with how this QB race has gone. We all knew Loucks, and knew that he couldn't lead us to glory. I would have considered it bad news (that Wynn and Cain were not all cracked up to be) were he to have emerged on top.Frankly, there was a rumor on Utefans that Loucks was transferring and I secretly took it as good news, meaning that he's looking at the competition and thinking he'll never be a starting qb.When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

Then why didnt Utah recruit someone else sooner? I read several posts on both this board and others claiming that Louks would be just fine and people actually excited about his prospects because with his speed they would be able to truly go back to the spread. Now I keep hearing "Louks wasnt that good anyways".Originally posted by USS Utah View PostLouks wasn't going to be that really good QB.

Well, at least a few of the QB recruits were moved to other positions like Manis and Christopher.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostThen why didnt Utah recruit someone else sooner? I think many expected more from Louks, but he clearly played himself out of the competition.Col. Klink: "Staff officers are so clever."

The problem is that Griff Robles went on a mission and Chad Manis busted.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostThen why didnt Utah recruit someone else sooner? I suspect they thought DeVonte Christopher might be the solution after Brian Johnson, but he got moved to WR.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostThen why didnt Utah recruit someone else sooner? I am worried and not worried about the QB situation all at the same time. I'm worried because of all of the reasons you've outlined...two new QBs in the system, etc. I'm not worried because I haven't seen either play, and from what I can tell, not many other people have either. For example, the Ute beat writer for the trib has limited access and so much of her blogging is guessing. Gunther may or may not have better access than most, but I really don't know. So, until further notice, I'm willing to trust that this is a competition and one guy will eventually win it.
The one thing that puzzles me about the arm strength argument though is that that was an argument against Brian Johnson and he turned out to have a decent year last year, so perhaps all that will be required of Cain or Wynn is to get the ball to Reed, Brooks, etc and let them make plays."They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.
Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I think Cain starts over Wynn.
The one nugget I've heard (albeit, on the radio), is that Wynn tends to force things too much and has turned the ball over more. That is a huge no-no in Whittingham's book.
With the defense this team has, we can win 6-8 games with a vanilla offense.

I guess we'll all find out tonight. I've been wondering lately if Whittingham is crazy like a fox and has been giving Cain all the reps in front of the media to throw them off that Wynn is the starter. Just a thought.
Also, someone on Utefans suggested that the Utes might start out in the Asiata package, which I also think is a possibility to take pressure off the starter."They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.

Someone posted a recap of KW's interview this morning with DJ and PK that the team has known for a week who the starter will be. If the media has seen Cain taking most of the reps, it's probably a safe guess that Cain will be the starter.Originally posted by DrumNFeather View PostI guess we'll all find out tonight.
